Ahhh Unicorn ... Thank you for remembering. Today is the Day! :)

 

I passed in front of the Royal Palace yesterday and saw the tribunes installed, red carpet, Fanfar rehearsal and all ...

 

I'm going to watch the Parade (if we're not inconvenienced by the traditional "drache Nationale!" (that's the rain on July 21st for those who don't know) :)

I thought one did not so much take a side as to be born to it. I was inquiring as from which region did Steven come. And though I do not know Steven well, what I do know of him would lead me to believe he is not "just" anything.

Belgium has a very special place in my heart, as it was the first European country I've been to.

 

Mind you, I don't just love it for sentimental reasons; it's a beautiful country with a lot to offer in terms of gastronomy, culture, and tourism in general. The people are also wonderful. (And I am one of the many optimistic for a unified Belgium in the future.)

But, um, educate me here. I'm way to lazy too go to wikipedia. In that very first post, first image there are three languages. French and Flemish I expect. So is the third German? Is there a sizable German speaking population? Just curious.

Not sizable. Only 76,000 in a country of over 11 million.

There is a small pocket of German speaking Belgians on the east side of Wallonie. I believe this part was annexed after WW2 and German is spoken there.
