I'm not considering him guilty of child porn until it's proven. I think that it's probably "normal" for his computers to be searched based on the arrest of his co-worker. They had a close / long-term relationship. I'll withhold judgement until there's proof he was involved. Until then, he's only guilty by association.

Nothing to do with the kiddie porn investigation, but I'd like to know if anyone at Subway had laid eyes on Jared Fogle in any recent month. Because when their spokesman for losing weight on "the Subway diet" walked out of his house and into an FBI van, he was sporting some serious man boobs and packing a 12-inch sub right over his belt line. Just sayin' ...

 

P.S. Come to find out, being a spokesman for Subway buys you a mighty nice house.

Speaking as a man who has battled weight all my life, I think it's pretty common knowledge that the hard part really isn't losing the weight, it's keeping it off. And most people lose that battle. That said, indeed, Subway should have been keeping eyes on his waistline. Or maybe they just didn't care.

The FBI has subpoenaed an affidavit containing alleged texts between former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle and a former female Subway franchisee in which Fogle says he paid for sex with a 16-year-old girl, according to the former franchisee's attorney.

 

The former franchisee shared the texts and her concerns about Fogle with Subway management at the time, her lawyer says, but Subway did nothing. Subway says it has no record of the woman's complaint.

 

The woman's lawyer, who asked to remain anonymous, said the FBI recently subpoenaed his law office for the text-message conversations, which Business Insider has viewed.

 

In the messages, Fogle repeatedly asks the woman — a Subway franchisee at the time — to advertise herself on Craigslist for sex with other men.

 

He asks her if he can watch the sexual acts and tells her she can make about $500 per act.

 

The messages in the affidavit, which the attorney says were recorded from the woman's phone by a court reporter in 2008 and witnessed and verified by a notary-public official, span from January 2008 to June 2008. Business Insider independently verified the authenticity of the affidavit. We also verified that a phone number in the document was registered to a Jared Fogle.

Hmmm...innocent until proven guilty in America some say? May be technically true but its more complicated. In America when you're arrested there is the perp walk, sometimes press releases and/press conferences along with front page headlines with your full name/photo/sordid assumed to be facts to support guilt. If you're rich (whether guilty or not) you're more likely to get off (found not guilty or hung jury with no retrial) and that outcome is likely on the last page of the paper and not under a big bold headline. If you are poor (as compared to the government which has unlimited money and resources), you're likely toast. Even if you are found not guilty, unless you have big money to fund your life, you're going to have problems getting employed after an employer searches your name (and nearly all do).

 

In America though you can get away with murder, literally. Get a job as a cop and shoot someone - anyone will do. Then utter the words you were taught in the academy or by your peers. "I was afraid for my life" or "He was going for my gun". And of course unless someone wants to/can prove intent then no crime. And video recordings help but juries and judges have found cops not guilty even after seeing video evidence a crime was committed because of no intent or they were afraid.

 

Sure, justice in America is wonderful.

Since that Subway thing doesn't seem to be working out for him anymore, I think he should re-brand himself as a family-values politician. He certainly seems to have the resume.

 

Maybe Josh, and the rest of the Duggar clan could form a super-pac to support him, and then take their show on the road. :eek:

The company dropped Fogle last month, after federal and state officials raided his home in Indiana, ending his 15-year association with the restaurant chain.

 

Officials from the US Attorneys office will reportedly hold a press conference on Wednesday announcing the charges against Fogle, and his agreement with prosecutors.
