Thanks for the update, I had read about the extortion earlier and wondered about the trial. I see Donald Burns made everything public , good for him, I suppose he knew that was a consequence once he went to the FBI.

Eleven Sean Cody escorts, the guy was living large! My favorite of the bunch by far is Willis, he did only one movie and there is one review of him on Daddys, and I never saw him advertise.

I admire Burns's courage. I'm sure it wasn't easy for him and has cost him dearly in his personal life. But it was the right thing to do. And when the trial is over, he'll discover how empowering it is to set down the burden of shame.

Perhaps with luck, and cosseted by a billion dollars, setting down his burden of shame will not be as onerous as he thinks.

Though it's easy for me to kibitz as, owing to a lifestyle fueled mostly by gall and a trickle of Social Security, I haven't managed to pick one up. .http://www.boytoy.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

Ashton said (in his attempt to get out of testifying) that he'd be taking the fifth anyway. How common is that in criminal trials?

Lookin, I get the feeling that Burns is nowhere close to being a billionaire. He made a 400K donation against an a proposed gay marriage ban in Florida, but I see little else. Based on what I know about his company, my WAG is mid-eight figures.

While I don't know how common it is, a witness, especially someone who's an associate of the target, taking the Fifth is not uncommon, and from what I can tell, completely justified.

The Str8UpGayPorn recap suggests that the correct number is somewhere around $138 million.

As for a comment I saw elsewhere -- forget if it was another thread here or on a linked site -- asking why Burns isn't being prosecuted, the answer could be one or both of two things: he has an immunity deal or the government thinks it's more important to deter extortion than to prosecute this matter. One reason why this might be the latter is that the extortion charges are federal, but prostitution charges are mostly state. Also, he's been forced to incriminate himself on those charges in order to prosecute these, so the state may not be able to use his statements against him anyway.

Thanks for the corrections on Burns' net worth. I had him inadvertently pegged as uber-rich.

A lunar event, no doubt, as I seem to have similarly overstated my own prosperity. When my monthly stipend arrived this week, I realized it's more of a drip than a trickle. http://www.boytoy.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

Still can't come to grips with how much sympathy to feel for this guy Burns. I sure don't envy him having his peccadilloes unfurled in such a public forum, and I definitely am glad he didn't get any closer to that revolver than he actually did.

But wasn't there the teensiest bit of concern over all those months of riffling through the Sean Cody roster that he might scare up somebody who didn't have his best interests at heart? Somebody who might act out to his detriment?

It's almost as if his material success gave him a sense of invulnerability. He'd been skirting the edges of what was legal, not once, but continually, and it must have occurred to him at some point that he could prove to be a juicy target.

I wonder what he'll do when this is all over. So far, it doesn't look like the rozzers will be coming after him. Even so, he'd have to be a bit nervous about hiring his next escort.

Perhaps he'll spring for a platinum dildo and an unlisted phone number. http://forums3.armagetronad.net/images/smilies/smiley_blank.gif

Pick up what-a burden of shame?

? WAG = 'wager'?

The way I see this issue is any member of this forum, client or escort, could find themselves in the same circumstances. For all anyone knows, Donald Burns could have been a poster here or used the reviews to make hiring decisions.

I've also not exactly approved of the way Zachary Sire has covered this issue on his website. He's criticized Burns for hiring escorts. Berated him for offering large sums to Sean Cody models. And alleged that Burns was some lecher with big money desperate to corrupt these Sean Cody guys. BFD, I've hired several SC guys, it ain't that difficult or a big a deal.

The situation could easily been reversed as well. Some clients stalk escorts as we all know. This entire drama could have gone another direction if one is willing to consider the possibility. Though I'm not sure there are many multimillionaire escorts out there. (Trust fund kids, maybe?)

This is a horrible situation for anyone to find themselves caught. Jarec Wentworth appears to have made some terrible choices. Perhaps he was naive in choosing this way to make a fast buck. But I wonder if he's done this before and was successful with some small scores. Maybe he got greedy and foolishly chose the wrong client to blackmail. We will have to await the jury verdict to determine his guilt or innocence.

Yeah, I read the summary that Barnaby linked to. One smile from Teo was all it took for that blogger to turn on Burns.

Now he's calling Burns an unsympathetic 1%er and mocking him for saying that Teo's Tweets scared him. Few of us, 1% or not, would be willing to have the contents of our lives dumped onto a table for the world to see. So why is it so difficult to believe that a text like "I can bring your house down, Don! I have a Twitter" would terrify a man?

I may have read it on Zach's site-or somewhere else. But it said that Jarec was a U.S. Citizen of Romanian antecedents. So I'm guessing that even if he is found guilty and serves time, he won't be deported afterward.

That TLA (three letter acronym) usually means "Wild Assed Guess".

In the business world we also use "SWAG," which stands for "Stupid Wild Ass Guess."

In my military time I recall SWAG being 'sophisticated wild arsed guess', intended to indicate a bit more thought or background information than a WAG. Also used ironically to mean 'really wild arsed'!

Precisely! Or scientific wild-assed guess.

After I posted my blurb about SWAG I Googled it and saw that it generally stands for scientific wild-assed guess. However, in my experience the guesses are more stupid than scientific.
