89th Anniversary or Marylin Monroe's birthday

Norma Jeane Mortenson, aka Marilyn Monroe, was born on June 1 in 1926. The actress would have been 89 years old today. Decades after her untimely death at age 36, Monroe continues to reign as one of the most iconic beauties in the world. No other actress is so closely associated with “blonde bombshell” than Monroe. In honor of her birthday, we’re taking a look at some of her most iconic looks, from fresh-faced pin-up girl to sex symbol to big screen queen

Marilyn Monroe is incomparable and always will be and anybody who hasn't figured that out, or won't admit it, or still thinks she was the quintessential "dumb blonde" (just because she was wise enough, and talented enough, to play one brilliantly) isn't playing with a full deck.

Go watch "Some Like It Hot." Enjoy yourself. If only she'd known how great and really special she was.

The night that she died in 1962 happened to be the first time I ever did an overnight with someone who picked me up in a New York bar. I was living with my parents, and I felt exhilaration mixed with guilt, because I knew they would worry that I had not come home. After breakfast with him the next morning, I left his apartment, got into my car, turned on the car radio, and learned the shocking news from California. I never forgot the association with my nighttime adventure.

will you make it to 89? In my family most of us do...

Well I made it to 1989 and will not make it to 2089. I have had several members of my family live into their 80's I am healthy and have done few bad things to myself, so I think 89 is possible but I am not sure the 80's are a fun decade for most who make it there

I'm just trying to honor Marilyn Monroe's 89th birthday, is it clear to you now?

It was the summer after my freshman year in college. I was not a big fan, but it was shocking. The public was less aware of her problems than someone like Judy Garland. Cheers to Charlie. I wish I had a great story like his!

There are few people that have touched the American public like her (John Kennedy, Judy Garland, ML King). Let's celebrate her, even if her life had its tragic moments.
