Just a question for some experienced escorts.

 

I'm a novice in the biz. How long did it take for you others to get work? Get your foot off the ground?

I've been doing this for 13 years. I was surprised how good the first few months were, but it just keeps getting better. For me personally, moving to NYC made all the difference. But my guess is that it takes maybe a year to establish regular customers, good reviews and steady bookings.

I had that happen to me, but don't remember exactly when. 1989 I think, but I was not in LA and affected. I was on my way to a conference in DC and the earthquake left me stranded in Sydney. Airports closed, flights delayed, I arrived late in LAX, unscheduled delay there and 24 hours late in DC. Half the conference missed. By no means was my trip fucked up, just a slight inconvenience. Still, earthquakes can turn your life upside-down.

 

Of course being with Mr Eisenhower would make it all worthwhile, or from what I have read it would!!

Wow, Kevin. That is an amazing chart. What is it measuring by year? Number of appointments? Dollars earned?

 

My experience has been similar. I started in 2000, took off like a rocket, and by 2002 or 2003 or so had reached a plateau that was very nice for several years. Then from about 2006 to 2008 the plateau went even higher, and I pretty much reached a limit of how much time I was willing to spend traveling. My last review was in 2011 but I've been escorting continuously since then with a group of long-established clients, making probably about half what I did at my peak, in large part because I just wanted to slow down.

 

Christian, for me at least in my first few years there is a "new kid on the block" phase where, after getting a handful of good reviews, lots of people wanted to be with me, at least in San Francisco, usually for an hour or two but sometimes for overnights. During my peak years, though, probably 75 % or more of my income came from overnights or longer, meaning a base of well-estabished clients hired me for multiple days and/or trips together. That base took years to develop.

 

As Killian pointed out LA can be a weird market. In his book "Hustlers Escorts and Porn Stars" Matt Adams stated that the best clients come from Texas, and the worst from LA. At first I thought that sounded like BS, but he had a point. No one from Texas ever flaked out on me, to the best of my recollection. In LA there was always an occassional WeHo/Hollywood-style flake out at the last minute, usually involving some excuse that sounded like total bullshit. Even so, whenever I traveled to LA (from SF) I always had a number of appointments, most of my clients showed up, and I made a lot of money and had a lot of fun.

Patience............ seek out the good local REGULARS and be really nice to them, Give them a second hour free or accept their dinner offers and do it "off the books." Choose locals over hotel visitors. Visitors are nice but local regulars are how a biz is built. I have done this over the years in Palm Beach and San Antonio in the 90s then in New Orleans in the 2000s . Yes! Thank-you! I have (or now maybe had) a regular escort who I believe is now taking me for granted. He keeps breaking our appts at the last minute among other things. He will apologize profusely and promise it won't happen again but it does. It sure has taken the bloom off the rose.

I don't know but I'm guessing as we all age having a good history with regulars is something nice for escorts and clients to rely on.
