Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, "The Queen of Tejano," was killed by her fan club's president, Yolanda Saldívar, on March 31, 1995.

Twenty years later, her fans continue to hold up the superstar's work and honor her memory.

"It's crazy. It grows every day with events everywhere, but we're not organizing them," Selena's father Abraham told the Associated Press. "Our family never got together every year on the day of her murder, because there's nothing to celebrate, and this year won't be the exception," he added.

As Jehovah's Witnesses, the Quintanillas do not celebrate deaths or birthdays, but, says Abraham, "We remember our daughter every single day. We don't need a special day to remember her."

Lopez is now a superstar. that movie launched her.

her portrayal was fine. I've seen the actual selena perform live and she was a nice facsimile. have you ever seen selena live?

C'mon dude, a star was born in that movie: Jennifer Lopez! The fact that she's still around is enough proof of it, many make it up there, very few remain popular and famous.

I enjoy her muic. She is a beautiful woman. You may be right than this movie made her a star, but it did not make her an actress. And Neither did Gigli, nor Maid in Manhattan, nor....well...nor did any other movie role. Ever hear of Britton Hill? Highest point in Florida, which is statistically the flattest state in the union. Perhaps, Jennifer should commission a screen play with that name.
