This has been mentioned here before, and I post about it (a) for general info, (b) because I’ve recently encountered it with a couple of escorts I know, and © in the hope that maybe something can be done to “protect” escorts.

As you may know, if you type a phone number into a Google search, if Google can identify the number, it will bring up one or more links to websites where that number is posted. It applies to both landlines and cell numbers. Use the format: 4X8-9X2-7XX4.

For example, if you type in the phone number you have for escort Joe Jones, and Joe Jones has a Review here that includes his phone number, the Google search result will, among other possibilities, identify the number as belonging to “Male Escort Joe Jones - Middletown”, and include a hotlink to Joe Jones’ Review(s) here.

Earlier this year I advised a new escort of this and he was unconcerned at the time. He recently retired however, and was concerned about any “lingering Google ramifications.” Fortunately, when he notified Hooboy of his retirement, and his contact info was removed from his Reviews, about a month later the Google “trace” disappeared as well.

However, he then discovered that if you type his email addy (also posted in his Reviews but since removed) into a Google search, the results still bring up the link to his Reviews here.

As an aside, the Google search results DO NOT bring up links to escorts whose phone numbers are posted on escort listing sites, eg. men4rentnow.

It would be nice if a Google search did not bring up escorts reviewed on this site. Does anyone know if or how that could be blocked or prevented?

Does anyone know of any other means such of “online tracing?”

Google Goggles But Do They Fall Down

I believe Google is the search engine for this site, due to some relationship, presumably not financial as it is with other sites, with Hoo Boy. It is the search engine used for the reviews and I think it comes in handy when clients want to find reviews of escorts, find prior reviews of their own they submitted and any other number of reasons.

Unfortunately, web pages can last forever. There are several projects to store web pages, even if the web sites no longer exist, on the web. My review photograph prior to this one is still on Hoo Boy's server with the then reviews (none of the current ones are accessible). It is possible Google might eventually let some search terms "expire" when they no longer actually exist, but that they continue to point to his reviews is not surprising.

This escort should simply let that e-mail address expire. I certainly intend to and will be easily able to get rid of both my contact telephone numbers and e-mail addresses upon my retirement.

Reviews remain googleable (proof that any noun can be verbed) because each exists as an html document on disk. Once indexed, they will persist as long as that document exists even if all links to it are removed. The only way to completely kill it is to delete (or rename) the html document. (or picture, or whatever)

The reason escort advertising sites aren't googleable is that the pages don't exist as individual html documents on disk. Search engine spiders can't crawl them. When you click a link to, for example, men4rentnow.com, the page you request is made up "on the fly" from data stored in a database. Google can't search/index the database.

(Daddy is working on a data-based version of the reviews as well, but it's a monumental task since he needs to retrofit several years of content in many different formats.)

The Google phone lookup isn't a classic "Reverse Phone Lookup" if it is returning web pages that list the phone number. A typical "RPL" simply returns the last known owner of that number and typically doesn't work on cell phone numbers. The Google search is a web search, which they're VERY good at.

The *ONLY* individual protection is smart presentation. Maintain a unique identity for escort activities. Use a phone number for only those activities. When the activities stop, kill the identity and the phone number.

Anything ever exposed to the net will forever remain exposed to the net. The only sure security is not to expose. Just as the only sure way to protect from viruses and trojans is to unplug the wire and never connect.

It's a fact of modern life that both works for us and against us. On the "up" side, we can be found if someone really wants to find us. On the "down" side, we can be found if someone really wants to find us.

For my home phone number, Google does do a classic RPL;

it tells you what's in my White Pages listing (my name,

town, and state). It does the same for for several other

(listed) numbers I've tried, and fails for the unlisted

numbers I tried.

Along these lines, I'd say I've created a "problem" for the other guys who share my name. Besides me, other guys with my same name who come up in a Google search include a former senior hockey player in New York state (now graduated), as well as an associate attorney with "Protect The Church - A Legal Resource For Ministires" in San Deigo. Whenever anybody does a Google search for any of us, up comes my escort and porn reviews at the top of the page.

I'm sure both of these guys are waiting for the day I retire and my naughty web pages start to disappear! And I'm sure this goes the same with anybody who shares his name with an escort who has even just a few web pages that have been picked up by Google. }(

While this post is not directly related to Google, I think it may be worth mentioning. I use the Spybot program to identify tracking cookies and other harmful files on my system. As many of you know, some of these files do no more than track your interests and have ads pop up relating to them. Others are more insidious in that they collect data on every Web Site you visit and can sell the data to any interested party. Scary! Doubleclick.com is one site that tracks everywhere you go. To the main point.

I noticed that after using this site, a company called Sextracker drops a tracking cookie on my computer, which I delete along with others. Now maybe they somehow just got my computer address. On the other hand, I would be curious if anyone else has noticed this. Please note that I am NOT implying that Hooboy has anything to do with this.

BTW: For AOL users, you can download the Spybot program on AOL and see what comes up when you run it. In fact, an AOL tech support person suggested I download it because these files can slow down your computer in addition to what I mentioned above.

The AOL keyword that gets you to the Spybot program is: spyware.
