The current forum software has been giving me fits and giggles for the last several years. Each time I've upgraded the system has been in a word: "painful." I've decided that I don't want to drop the bowling ball on my foot again and it's time to move on to greener pastures.

Over the last several years I've been keeping an eye on their competitor every since I found out that the lead developers had wandered away when the company was taken over by Internet Brand, Inc. to form a new company.

The new company created a message forum package from the ground up and the new product stood head and shoulders over the competition. When they attempted to release the beta of the product, gory legal bloodletting ensued: http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XenForo

I've had to wait patiently to see what the final outcome would be and I wanted to give the new product time to sink or swim. The end result I'm happy to say is that they are indeed powerful swimmers.

I now have a XenForo license and have successfully tested it by importing the old forum content with only one problem which turned out to be an attempt at robot spam and one "That's no bug that's a feature" where I have to re-enable the privileges for the moderators and administrators.

Switching over starts Friday evening and will take most of the night. However I'm officially saying we'll be back on Monday. So gentlemen enjoy your weekend while we tear the house down and put a new one in it's place.[/color]

I updated my avatar with a pic that has a higher resolution... more pixels that is... as the old system would only allow avatars with a certain amount of pixels... That should solve the problem... if you have access to a version of your avatar that has greater resolution that is...

Check out the way to do it under "signature" when you click on your screen name in the upper right corner.

PS: I was pleasantly surprised that the upgrade was up and running this morning... It will take a bit getting used to... but we will adapt! Thanks!

Yup, that seems to work.

One more thought... I notice that a signaturs of posters (including mine) only seem to appear when I am officially signed in... This would prevent "guests" from viewing signatures... I would think that this might adversely affect the escorts who include their contact information etc. in their signatures.

Just wondering if this could be adjusted...

Thanks for the help. I think my new icon is less fuzzy than the old one. Please let me know if it doesn't look good.

It looks like the new posts function works a lot better. Instead of having to mark forums as read, the machine seems to know by itself which threads you've looked at. And it looks like you might be able to read them out of order, only marking the ones you've seen as read. Nice.

Thanks- say have you figured out a way to delete a message in your Inbox? I can see the box to check to select the message. But I can't find a delete option.

I don't see a delete function either... or a sent folder yet... or a need to delete messages due to space issues as in the past... at least not just yet that is...

Kudos to you, Daddy, for upgrading the forum software quickly and seamlessly, at least for us members. I'm sure it was a lot of work for you, but you made it look easy to the rest of us.

Thank you for all you do!!

Daddy, thanks for doing the tremendous amount of work that was involved. I have a quick questions that I am sure everyone already knows the answer to. The one thing that I did not know about the old site was how to make it so that I would know whether I read a thread or not. For example, on MSS if I have not read a thread (or any of the newer posts obviously) there is an arrow pointing toward the thread. When I read it, then the arrow disappeared. Here (if I remember correctly) the new threads were in darker/lighter script. But sometimes if I did not finish reading all the new ones for one reason or another when I returned they were the titles were all light script and I could not tell which ones that were new threads or new posts. Not sure if that mad sense but I hope so.

Have you tried simply using the New Posts tab on the top of the page? Any ones you've read will not show, and once you've read all you care to, you can then mark all the rest as read, so next time it'll just be the new stuff.
