Artist claims he left a hidden reference to the Lewinsky scandal in Bill Clinton's portrait.

"The reality is he's probably the most famous liar of all time. He and his administration did some very good things, of course, but I could never get this Monica thing completely out of my mind and it is subtly incorporated in the painting," Shanks said.

According to Shanks, a shadow visible next to Clinton in the portrait came from a blue dress he placed on a mannequin near the canvas when it was being painted. The artist said this was meant as a reference to the infamous dress Lewinsky wore during one of her trysts with the president.

I have viewed this portrait several times when visiting this gallery. I have noticed the shadow and noted the subtle message incorporated into the painting. Now he's gone public revealing his intent.

There were two instances when taking friends to see this museum that I pointed out this shadow. Neither caught the message till I pointed it out. It's a perfect metaphor of the moral bankruptcy Bill Clinton personified. No wonder the Clintons hate that portrait.

One thought that that came to mind after seeing it a couple of years ago was that the pose reminds me of someone getting a blowjob. Arm on the mantle, head kicked back, wide stance, and sarcastic grin. There's a lot this artist tried to reveal about character in this painting.

1) Not even a decent work of art. The portrait looks more like Ted Koppel.

2) The action by President Clinton, unlike that of the following Administration that occupied the White House, did not end up costing thousands of lives and endless U.S. treasure.

I can readily understand why the Clintons would hate it and frankly so do I -- it's a lousy portrait. I think the whole idea is a cheap shot and I'm not even a fan of the Clintons.

Between this, and today's revelation that while Hilary was Secretary Of State she used her own email address - I have to ask - these are news stories? Really?

LOL...for the Republicans it's a story. Hillary's the only candidate that they have to go after right now, and they fear her the most.

Republicans most likely to run...Busch, Carson, Christie, Perry, Jindal, Rubio, Walker(my personal favorite), Cruz, Santorum, Huckabee, Paul, Fiorina, King, Kasich...etc etc etc. and fingers crossed, the Palin woman and the Trumpster.

Democrats most likely to run...Clinton. This could be wierd.

When an "artist" comes forward years later to explalin his art, it is no longer a portrait it is a cartoon. Let this self-promoting slug crawl back into obscurity and yes, take the portrait down the hole.

Hillary is no fool. I'm sure she planned to use her own email account--which she apparently set up just before becoming Sec'y of State--so she would have complete access to the material for the book she would write as soon as she left office.

Most famous liar, huh. Only because previous presidents, such as Harding, FDR, Kennedy and Johnson, were not subject to the same intense media questioning.

By the artist's standard, perhaps only Truman and Carter of recent presidents could qualify.

This is a little bit more graphic.

The cigarette should have been the infamous cigar and Monica's hand should be a bit higher!

The cigar is lodged someplace else, and Monica's hand is perfectly positioned to begin it's work. :D
