Obsolete media?

How does one properly dispose of old VHS tapes (non-porn)? We no longer have technology with which to view them, and probably wouldn't do so even if we did. Most are movies/operas/documentaries that were watched only once, or not at all (my spouse has always been an overly optimistic purchaser).

1/ Check to see if your favorite local thrift store or "friends of the library" club accepts them as donation.

2/ Pay to have them recycled ($10 or so plus shipping) by GreenDisk.

Half Price Books may take them (this varies from location to location)

You can still purchase a new VCR (search the web or contact a high-end audio-visual store)

There are a number of services that will convert your VHS tapes to modern media (check your area to see if there are any resources that do this). These services will also usually recycle your tapes.
