Anybody interested in seeing the movie? The male character is very attractive. I wouldn't mind looking at him for a couple hours on film.

 

Also, I read one interview with a female dominatrix who said the book and movie are somewhat tame compared to the realities of her service. Would love to hear from those experienced in dominate/submissive situations. I'm just a novice in the arena but am very curious.

Really like the male lead, Mr. Jamie Dornan... but couldn't really see myself enjoying the movie-- so probably not.

I'm not sure if this is a plot point, but in the trailers the lead actress comes across as incredibly bland, boring and lifeless, like so many of the new YA starlets coming up these days.

After seeing the trailers, my thoughts were the film is going for visual over content, but the visual can't go as far as the book without becoming almost porn. So how far will they go? Secondly do the leads have the acting chops to pull this off? As gorgeous as Jaime is, can he make Christian Grey believable. As far as the female lead for Anastasia, Dakota Johnson, is suppose to start out bland. We can only see how she may change in the movie. Also the music in the trailer sounds like porn music I hear running through the bath house.

Yeesh, that book! I've read so much about it as well as blog "reviews" with excerpts. Someone whose opinion I trust said it's passable as porn but not as anything else. It's just as (if not more) unbelievable as its inspiration, the Twilight books, has borderline abusive relationship dynamics, and a completely off the wall presentation of BDSM by presenting it as Christian's way of dealing with past trauma. Once he experiences Ana's love by entering her Magic Vagina enough times, he doesn't need BDSM anymore.

 

BTW, someone made a porn version or parody of it and was sued by the studio producing the movie. The case was settled, and the porn version was pulled.

Jamie Dorman stars in "The Fall" with Gillian Anderson. It's a British series currently available for streaming on Netflix. He certainly has the acting chops.
