That's what I don't get about the "wanted list." Why not just answer ads. I guess the idea is for the client to "advertise" that he is looking and then a logged-in escort can contact him, but that seems a little inefficient.

As one who has use the "wanted list" (and no.... my prices were what the average market was seeking) - the types of guys who responded came across more as the same ones who (*unfortunately) in many cities advertise on Backpage. I am not into the thug type nor underage twinks etc... and yet it was rare to find someone not of that type answering. In a larger market such as NYC you can find some interesting guys, especially guys who are also actively looking (to be hired), and it can save some time especially when you are in a new city or area. If a particular guy answers, I take time to check him out, see if he has been reviewed before, compare the photos etc... (sort of what we do often enough here).

I agree esp re NYC, I have occasionally used this feature just for the heck of it, also offering the going rates, the first time just to see what kind of replies I would get. And, yes, as Adriano said many were the same guys from BP, BUT I discovered there is a whole market of untapped hidden gems, newbie Coll students grad students guys having trouble making ends meet etc, who do NOT escort and would NEVER put themselves out there by running an Ad. But they WOULD if financially strapped, ANSWER one. I found a first-timer, cute struggling student/actor/waiter a few years ago who had never run any kind of Ad, a total non-pro who REALLY had never done this before ( yes really wasn't just a line I can tell, it took MUCH cajoling to get him to even meet me and make the appointment) and it was great. a little off topic but an observation.....the ### of RB ads currently for Phoenix increased a bit I assume related to Super Bowl weekend biz.....the ### of ads on men4rent, not at all.....not sure how many escorts or clients go to men4rent anymore for much of anything.....not pleased when one sometimes finds an ad on men4rent to pursue further only to often find / notice that it's an "inactive" ad anyway....a bummer of a website in a variety of ways.

I've tried it during brief layovers in Kansas City and San Diego, and a couple of times in LA. Always a last resort where I didn't know a local or nobody I knew was available. I offered the local basic rate (not bottom fishing, but not premium) because it is a craps shoot. I'd rather give a big tip at the end of a good session (and always do), than pay too much (and no tip) for a disappointing session.

 

I disagree about it being a race to the bottom. I see it as an opportunity for escorts to fill gaps in their schedules. They decide whether to answer the ads, which in my opinion makes it fair. Also, they get to enter (and view) ratings of the customers they contact. One guy told me he'd taken a chance on me because of favorable comments left by a previous hire. (I also have a negative review.)

 

Quality of respondents was all over the place. And yes, lots of "thugs" and "twinks" -- not what I asked for and not my type. In LA I heard from a guy who has been favorably reviewed on daddy's, and has some fans in the forum. He offered to spend the night with me at LAX for a very low rate. Unfortunately, at the time he had a full beard and I have zero attraction to lumberjacks. In SD I hired a spectacular newby who only escorted for a few weeks before shipping overseas. I never SAID he was starving lol, NOR did he, he did not play that card. I grew up here and could tell the diff between a 11th ave hooker and a hotel hooker by the time I was 14 lol and by 15 I was getting into Village piano bars unchecked just by wearing a turtleneck and dress jacket. I suppose sheer density of population is a factor re your odds of getting lucky :-) Back before they did away with their "male companions" board I also found that Craigs List was an occasional good source of un-advertised guys. (unless of course they murdered you as some did) But even now if you go to the "men seeking men" boards and search the word "generous" lol they'll still pop up :-)

I've used wanted list postings a few times. I generally use it in 2 situations.

 

1. I'll post a few days before I travel to a new city, especially if it's a smaller city with fewer escort options because (as others noted) sometimes you get responses from guys who don't have ads up. In fact, I've had some excellent sessions like this.

 

2. When an escort cancels on me and I'm trying to find a replacement. This is especially helpful when there's a large escort selection (like in NYC), and I'm trying to narrow my choices.
