He starred in a television series based in Hong Kong where he was a private detective and drove around in this neat little fin-tailed sports car; I liked him too!!!

I hate to admit this but I loved the movies he did with Doris Day. He had such a light touch. I watched "The V.I.P.'s" on TCM some months ago. It's a dreadful film, a Taylor and Burton epic in which she wears lots of jewelry and clothes and he looks drunk, but Rod Taylor and Maggie Smith are just terrific. And Margaret Rutherford won a Supporting Oscar for rising magnificently above the horrible material. I think Terrence Rattigan wrote it, probably for the paycheck. Anyway, Taylor was handsome, sincere, and really good in it. He's great in "The Birds" too. He seemed to be one of those journeyman actors who was very professional, talented and prolific (James Garner comes to mind in that regard) and just got on with it. Very admirable qualities and he'll be missed.

I didn't know that he had just passed...very sad to learn that. I always liked his performances, even if I didn't always like the movies he was in (but most of them I did like). He was definitely someone that caught my attention.
