I am troubled by the comment made by Rocky: "we vacation at my expense, cruises, etc". I feel that if Rocky is always paying, then it is not a true friendship. I do not mean any offence but surely Rocky is being treated as a very nice guy who is undemanding but still picking up every check. So my advice is that he should keep his wallet shut and state how much he values the friendship and wants to see the man often but as friends and on a 'no payment' basis.

 

This was something that bothered me. But it's a sticky wicket as a criterion. What if we disregarded how they had initially met? What if they were simply two guys who became friends and Rocky valued the guy's company but Rocky had the better job. Are there cases where two friends might be in this situation? But while this might need to be considered my gut feeling is yours.

 

I've noticed that Rocky hasn't responded back to any of these posts. I hope we've been helpful and haven't overwhelmed the guy when he has a difficult decision.

It's sad when people forget one of the biggest advantages of the escort/client relationship. Because it is fundamentally a business relationship, in which one is paid to provide a personal service to another, the relationship is self-limiting. I have one guy I have seen several times. Each time I see him it gets better. I really enjoy it, look forward to seeing him, and yet, when our time together comes to an end he takes his money, we hug and kiss, and he's gone - out of sight and out of mind. No awkward leave-taking, no promises to call, no nothing. Wow!!

I think your statement is true for some, probably most, people. However, as the OP wrote and others have chimed in, the relationship can become deeper and more complex.
