Dropped by Johnny's last night. Extremely slow. The dancers and the bartenders have said that business is way off because a lot of the customers are confused as to whether or not the move has taken place. Many have just stopped coming. The owner briefly promised that the move would take place soon. When pressed for a more specific date, with me asking whether or not it might be in January sometime, his comment was "Oh no, much sooner than that, within 2 weeks." The problem all along apparently was the neighbors, with the homeowners association furious that a strip bar was going in across the street.

 

I was told that the meeting with the planning commission and the homeowners association was rough in the beginning, but the neighbors finally agreed to the move, so long as the focus of the club wasn't on the stripper aspect, but more on drag shows and the like.

 

Parking has been leased in the evening hours from an adjoining business, and as of now it will still be valet only. Alex said that the inside is really beautiful. There will be a "soft opening" before the end of the year, with the actually opening to quickly follow a week or so later.

 

BUT....and there always is a but. As I left, I attempted to confirm a solid promise that it would be only 2 weeks. His response was, "well hopefully, but then again the owner has been telling me that for 2 months now." Why am I not encouraged....We shall soon see.

To be honest, and reading a little bit between the lines, the fact that Sean agreed to alter the focus of the club was merely to appease the homeowners association. It was a sort of (wink wink) kind of deal. He spent a lot of money getting this club going, and he knows he won't make any money running drag shows. My guess is that he needs to get the club up and running and then shift his focus. IMHO

Do they have the same roster of effeminate girlie dancers like Johnny's? The same deafening music blaring out at decibels not suitable for human ears? The same noxious environment almost guaranteed to make your clothing, skin, hair, and nails wreak of the foul stench of cigarette smoke and fill your lungs with deadly carcinogens? The same loud, incomprehensible, and obnoxious trannies working as deejays?
