My favorite is The Saguaro in Scottsdale. I've stayed here several times, including under its previous incarnations as The Mondrian and The James. I like it because it's in Downtown (Old Town) so you can walk to things nearby, the staff is very friendly and easy on the eyes, the gay-friendly AZ88 is next door, and the pool and gym are good. The rooms are separate from the lobby so your visitors can either valet or self-park and come directly to your room without having to go through the lobby - good for guys wanting to be discreet.

Have fun and let us know what you decide!

If you're going to go "mainstream" like the Saguaro, I tend to think Scottsdale Plaza Resort might be a better choice....one does need a car to drive into the Old Town area, etc....but clients can easily park on their own right outside the room....also, the pool is a great one (early, early morning sun) & accessible without needing a key card....(the Saguaro now has locked gates to the pool).....if 1 stays at Saguaro, ground floor with patio is best.....upper levels balconies are as thin (small) as matchsticks....

1 place to avoid - Talking Stick.....while really nice rooms & fun with the casino, they have security guards checking room cards to get to guest rooms....so client can't get to the room by himself.....I prefer to meet in lobbies anyway & go to the room together.....but maybe everyone doesn't operate that way.

Doubletree ( old Wyndham) is also always a decent "mainstream" choice.....nice enough rooms, easy parking....nice pools

Ok so I've booked my 4 nights at The Clarendon (historic Phoenix, think GunSmoke?!?) but then I just made a connection with a hot lil' masseuse who tells me all the rich daddies who hire live in North Scottsdale, where he lives. Not sure if this is true since he's begging me to sport-fuck him on our off-hours (oink!). Any thoughts on this, my adorable Peanut Gallery?

I've been in the Phx area since childhood....the Clarendon is in a very central location and has become somewhat of a small "boutique" hotel after recent upgrading....it may still give off a vibe of being an older 60s-era place, though.....won't be utterly over-the-top upscale, but is a strong, solid place....yes, North Scottsdale is a "nice" part of town, but the Town of Paradise Valley is, by far, the nicest and that is much closer to central Phx where you'll be....don't worry about location - if the guys want to meet you, they'll get to you....everybody drives everywhere in Phx......

and, for history buffs, this is the place (the parking lot) where Don Bolles was murdered in 1976 while investigating corruption in Arizona

AZDR is right, either they will come to you or you can come to them, but everyone expects to drive.

I think you've made a great choice. Scottsdale is the polished tourist mecca, but to me Phoenix (particularly downtown) is where it's goin' on, particularly for the gays. A few years ago when I was living in Scottsdale I found myself more often then not heading over to Phoenix. The Clarendon looks cool and hip. North Scottsdale (distinct from Old Town Scottsdale) is pretty and swanky but kind of boring, imho, and it's far off the path if you are heading to other parts of the Valley.

In my experience the gay guys live either near Downtown Phoenix, the Central Corridor (between 7th St and 7th Ave up to Camelback or so), or the Biltmore area around Camelback & the 20s and 30s streets. When I lived there the LA Fitness on Camelback was the unofficial "gay gym" though that was some years ago. I also recall getting a number of calls in far North Phoenix. But people are all over, including North Scottsdale and PV, and while hopefully they will come to you be sure to have a car so you can come to them too.

Have fun!

I can assure you that you'll have clients from Paradise Valley and from proper Phoenix.

If I could, I'd opt for a central location.

The Clarendon is a beautiful hotel with a great pool....the restaurant inside it, Gallo Blanco, is pretty good as well. You made a great choice IMHO!
