Anyone out there experience anything like this. I received a text message from a Detective Garcia, the text of which is as follows:

"Prostitution disguised as escorting is illegal. You are being warned, continuing to do so will be punishable by up to a year in prison and up to 2,500 in fines. This is a warning. - Detective Garcia"

Any thoughts?

Are you an escort? Do you have an ad that "Detective Garcia" got your number from? I'm trying to understand the context of this.

Any thoughts?

Yup.

I think I don't get excited at a message that I've won millions in the Irish lottery. I think I don't really believe Bill Gates wants to give me millions. I think I'm still waiting for the millions that Nigerian prince wants to deposit in my bank account.

I also think that internet trolling is an endangering trait for the troll.

My thoughts, but good to get some feedback. Thanks!

Thanks daddy, that was my initial reaction but good to get feedback from those in the community.

Kind of what I was thinking, but good to get feedback from others in the community. My thanks!

Would a real detective really only identify himself by a last name? That's kind of ridiculous to me. Seems to me either he'd reveal a name and affiliation, or he wouldn't identify himself as a detective at all. Chalk it up to spam.

If a real detective wanted to investigate you, he would knock on your door or call and, in the absence of a warrant, hope you'd talk. The last thing he would do is warn you in advance so that you could take more precautions.

Detective Garcia's is likely to be either a competitor or a vengeful would-be client who can't afford your rates.

Did you Google the phone number the text was sent from?

And, Ed McMann should be knocking at my door any minute now!

The Detective Garcia bit, itself should have rung bells.

A detective would never advance warn you in this way. I get crank calls over here in England from guys pretending to be police. There's a misconceived idea over here that it's illegal in England. When I inform them that it's not, they always hang up. It's usually just kids who find an escort's number and think it's huge fun to spam them with fake calls and texts.

Wait a minute. Are you suggesting I'm not going to receive millions in Irish lottery winnings or the nice Nigerian prince I emailed back and forth with isn't going to put millions in my account? This is upsetting. If neither of those is going to happen I'm sure that the sweepstakes people will arrive soon - I haven't left the house in 18 months because I didn't want them to arrive when I wasn't here and give my winnings to a neighbor. I never believed Bill Gates was going to payoff on his promise to give me millions - unfortunately I think he cares more about kids that don't have clean water or have access to medical care than me - ridiculous.

I agree. I'd put some effort into figuring out whose phone number it is; not because I think it's a cop, but I'd want to know whether it was a former escort or someone who had an ad up at one time.

I know most of you don't follow my twitter account but approximately six to eight weeks ago I started receiving very very strange text messages and I was talking about it on twitter. It was from a guy wanting to book me and wanting to know where I lived, he even phoned me on one occasion, completely off his head on drugs. By chance I was updating an advert on one of the uk gay escort sites and this number stood out. A quick look at the texts on my phone revealed it was a gay escort in London who was making false appointments and sending weird texts.

I've no idea why he did it but I immediately let him know that I knew who he was and it stopped.

Unfortunately I had the exact same thing happen to an escort that I hired when he came to FTL. He told me that several appointments were no shows, after being made, and confirmed with emails, several text messages and a phone conversation. He concluded that they were local escorts trying to disrupt his travel plans. People do despicable things sometimes. Sad, but it's a reality.

Why do they do that. FFS

I do work in London...a lot......but only for overnights or afternoon liaisons. I don't offer Incalls there because I never tour. I am popular at home, without having to start traipsing around England and Scotland looking for work. I have been working as an escort for a long time and I have regulars who rely on me and I've a nice steady income as their homeward boy. How I was a threat to him in London is beyond me.

Unfortunately, cancellations and no shows are part of this business.

And who would you put that much effort and time to disrupt someone's travel plans?
