There's been some interest expressed in a step-by-step guide to posting links to Rentboy ads. Here you go:

1. Open the ad

2. Click on the "Share" icon, located below the headline

3. Rentboy displays a "Share" pop-up window

4. Look at the bottom of the "Share" pop-up window and see the ad's URL

5.Highlight the URL using your mouse and then copy by using the appropriate keyboard shortcut or right-click and select "Copy"

  • Windows: Hold down <Control> and <C>
  • Mac: Hold down <cmd> and <C>

6. Paste the URL to a post on the Forum

You have created a post with a simplified link!

I've noticed on occasion that the link will not work. Try again!

Happy posting!!

Thanks for posting!

It often works to add the escort's name or phone number after www.rentboy.com/ as well. For example, both www.rentboy.com/KevinSlater and www.rentboy.com/9172040101 bring up my ad.

You are welcome.

I've added the name or phone number with mixed results. I think it works better for ads that have been around for a while.

This is great! Now hopefully people will remember to even add the url. It's such a regular occurrence for (newbies esp.) posters to post inquiries with no links, as if everyone knew which escort they were referring to. Then the next two or three responses end up being "links would help" type post followed by links and possible corrected/working links posts.

Maybe this thread should be stickied up top. :)

I guess it is time for another tutorial: "How to inquire about an escort." :)

I found the easiest way for me (on Firefox anyway) is to just right click on the address bar of the escort's page (calling up the cut/copy/paste menus), scroll down to copy, go to the forum page, right click again, scroll to paste.

More than 50% of the time the pasted link will not work. That's why the post was made into a sticky.

It's worked 100% of the time for me but I'll keep an eye out for errors.

I believe the problem is that the link works just fine for you but not for others, perhaps having something to do with a cache or log-in issue. One way to test is to open a different browser (Firefox instead of Safari, for example) and see if the link works there. Or better, follow the instructions given above.

That's exactly the issue.

The problem typically occurs with ads where the URL looks like this:

http://www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=434552&iid=489957&scid=157860761&sp=1&pos=0&locid=1386&type=escort

and typically does not occur with ads where the URL looks like this:

http://www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=579562

when you follow the instructions, the URL becomes:

www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=434552

and then it works.
