Dispelling all curses

Well, just to privide an opportunity to end all speculation of curses, I would LOVE to see a CUBS/RED SOX series myself. IT would be great to see two teams who haven't been to the BIG SHOW in a long, long time, and for the fans, no matter who wins, it's got to be great to watch.

I agree. even though I am a Yankees fan, I think it would be rgeat to have the Cubs face the Sox in the WS. But I'd be rooting for the Cubs!

C'mon guys. If you want a media frenzy, it would be the Yankees vs.

the Red Sox. We here in NYC want that. Clemens on the mound in the World Series against his old team. I'm getting a woody just thinking about it. And of course, we sweep in 4. It's the Yankees all the way.

The question now is when will the Sox fold? Tonight? Against the Yanks? In the Series? You gotta know it'll happen at some point.....it's rough on those Sox fans who battle "esteem" issues as it isx(

Not a strong Cubs fan, but I'm happy for a certain retired (and still remains the best in the business, in my view) escort from Chicago who is a HUGE supporter! In fact, last time I saw him, he sweetly gave me a Cubs tee shirt, which (if he by chance should ever read this) I want him to know I will be wearing during the series should the Cubs make it past the Marlins and the Red Sox fold as anticipated......

Duh! The Yankees and Red Sox can't play one another in the World Series: they're both in the American League! (You see, the team that wins the playoff in the American league plays the team that wins the playoff in the National League.... oh, never mind, it's like trying to explain tennis to my sports-challenged domestic partner.)

Oh, Charlie, lighten up. I meant in The ALC playoffs. NY vs. Boston. Now if we can just get Michael Jordan to pinch hit for Nomar Garciaparra, then we'd definitely win!!!!

GO CUBS! Loved that 2 run homer by Sosa with 2 outs in the 9th to tie the game. I am definitely rooting for a CUBS/RED SOX series, with the Red Sox to win it all, but I wouldn't be disappointed if the Cubs won the series. Either one would be a refreshing change of pace. :)

I like the Marlins in the sense that I won a couple thousand when they won the series in 1997, as I placed my bets in July!! I dislike them now because:

1. They get no fan support, while they would play to a packed stadium in DC

2. Their current owner Jeff Loria sucks, as MLB cut him a sweetheart deal when he bought the Marlins and abandoned the Expos to a vagabond existence. I love the Expos and truly wish MLB would wake the hell up and move them to DC. I mean look at the fiasco they put the Expos thru this year. I bet if they had gotten to play all those home games they played in San Juan in Montreal instead, they would have made the playoffs. IMO, they have the greatest GM in all of baseball as he consistently puts a winning team on the field year after year, despite the low payroll and the incredible obstacles MLB puts them thru. Talk about a great farm system!

3. The previous owner sucked even more than the current owner as he got his rocks off by buying a great team and after he had his trophy did the biggest wholesale dismantling of an awseome team to the biggest disgrace in baseball history.

4. They beat the Giants, which is one disappointment short of beating the Indians in game 7 of the 1997 series (my money was on the Marlins but my heart was for the Indians).

GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!!!

Hope you didn't go to bed before the 11th and Mike Lowell's homer to win the game.

I guess I'm a Marlins fan but to be honest I won't be sad to see the Cubs win either. They certainly deserve a shot too. I only went to one game this year but being a S. Florida guy guess I'll root for the home team. Hell ya gotta love Gramps the manager. lol

As for Hawks points. Well the attendance at ProPlayer got a lot better when there was a product worth seeing on the field. And Luria to his credit instead of dumping guys at the trade deadline spent some bucks and did some trades.

Do you think MLB will ever be able to force a NoVa franchise through over the objections of Peter Angelos?

Well, I believe Florida was one of the teams, like the Twins and Expos who were being considered for contraction a couple of years ago, weren't they? All due to mostly low attendence, which is the poor excuse they used to rob DC of its team not once, but twice. But when the Senators finally fielded a decent team with Ted Williams as manager in 1969 they drew over 800,000 fans in a time when 1,000,000 fans was considered a huge success, so I definitely understand your point.

As far as Angelos, no I don't believe the DC area will ever have a team as long as Angelos owns the Orioles, because he has something that Selig definitely needs and wants. There are rumors of Angelos selling, so I believe MLB will hold the Expos in limbo for the next year or so to see if that happens and if it does it will then move the Expos to DC. If not, then they will probably move them to Mexico. :(
