I've never been, and I'd sure appreciate some info on where to stay, where to dine, what to see/do. I would also like any recommendations on who to contact for fun. I prefer Latin or Asian twink types. I have checked the reviews and already contacted Omar. If anyone has observations they would care to share about him, they would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help guys.

There are several gay B&Bs in Houston. Do stay in The Lovett Inn, and ask for a room in one of the outlying houses, especially the one right by the pool garden. Do stay in the really small one I unfortunately can't remember the name of. Do not stay in the Houston Inn on Avondale.

There is a fairly nice Morroccan restaurant on Westheimer in the central gay part of town, The Montrose. I think its called the Marakech. Not as nice as one I still dream about in Denver, but that was long ago and far away.

There is a local chain of gay upscale coffee houses called Barnaby's. My favorite of them is the one on West Grey. Great ribs! for one thing. Also, late at night, The House of Guys - actually The House of Pies on Kirby. Skip Katz's. Overpriced.

May I suggest you drive through Memorial Park to watch the joggers?

My town is full of so many nice things and places. Could you please be a bit more specific about what kinds of things and places you like? Other than escorts, you weren't real clear. Feel free to ask for what you want and we probably have something like it.

Bilbo helped me prepare for my first trip there. I stayed at the Lovett INN per his suggestion and it was awesome been back once since then what a place. Tony Ryan might be a nice pic for you. The restaurant called the Americas is still my favorite and also its sister the Churrascos (sp) HUGS Chuck50:P :p :P

Chuck, you're mentioning more high class eating establishments made me think of one I haven't been back to with my Cub yet. (He is a little less adventurous with his eating than I am. Food, at least.) I think it's maybe called the Rainbow Inn or the River Inn, it's right down on the bayou beside Bayou Bend, the old Ima Hogg estate. Gorgeous view out of large windows. One time I went there, there was a raccoon playing just outside the window and a live harp playing inside. Well, the harp itself wasn't alive, but you get my drift ...

There is also a very friendly Italian restaurant just South of downtown which is where Cub and I usually go for major occaisions. (We'll be going there tomorrow night to celebrate our fifth anniversary.)Very friendly and very gay friendly, too. It's named Josephine's. Small, quiet, romantic ...

Thanks Bilbo, Chuck50, and foxy for your responses. The Lovett Inn looks like a nice place to stay. Any comments on their policy towards guests? The Museum District, Bayou Bay Gardens, and the Space Center all look interesting. Any comments on those? I will definitely be visiting the Rothko Chapel. I am not much of a shopper, with the exception of beer/wine. Is Spec's a good place to go for that? I like most Mediterranean and Latin American cuisines, so both Marakech and Josephine's sound good. Is Americas Latin American? Any others?

LOvett Inn policy is it is your house while you stay there as long as your not keeping the residents awake its ok. I have had several guys there with me, we used the pool and hot tub at night. I have had a massuer come in. They are gay friendly and Gay owned as well although they have others stay there because of the beauty. Americas in ecletic food from all over the Americas. Don't forget to visit Grandma's aka "The Club" HUGS CHuck50

RE: a study in contrasts

Today it occured to me just what a contrast you have in one little block. I've thought about it before, but ususally forget it. You know how it is. There is a tiny little two block street called Ralph which comes off of Westheimer. On it is EJ's. I love the owner, Ed. He's a very good, community minded man. He's made the place as physically handsome as could be. However, the strippers who dance there in the contests always (well, always did, I haven't seen them in a couple of years) seem a little lower class to me. The kind that ask to dance in a charity benefit and then expect to be allowed to keep their tips. And a bit twinky for me, too. I think that they may have some appeal to some of you, however.

Anyway, just at the corner of Ralph and Westheimer there is one of the nicest, most expensive restaurants that I have been in in the city. It's in a converted old church building and its name is Mark's. If you want great food and to overwhelmingly impress someone with how much you are spending on them, head there!
