I was born and raised in New Mexico; I wonder how widely this story is know:

(First two paragraphs of wikipaedia article):

Truth or Consequences is a spa city and the county seat of Sierra County, New Mexico, United States.[1]

In 2012, the population was 6,411. It is commonly known within New Mexico as T or C.

Originally named Hot Springs, the city changed its name to Truth or Consequences, the title of a popular NBC radio program.

In 1950, Ralph Edwards, the host of the radio quiz show Truth or Consequences, announced that he would air the program

from the first town that renamed itself after the show. Hot Springs won the honor. Edwards visited the town during the first weekend of May for the next fifty years.

This event was called "Fiesta" and included a beauty contest, a parade, and a stage show. The city still celebrates Fiesta each year on the first weekend of May. The parade generally features area celebrities such as the Hatch Chile Queen. Fiesta also features a dance in Ralph Edwards Park.

They did a nice job of the video with the city names and some interesting images related to them....although they certainly dropped the ball when they came to Intercourse, PA :)

North Carolina contains a nice sequence of town names, even if not lined up in fit geographical propinquity:

Welcome

Friendship

Advance

High Point

Climax

Bushy Fork :D

And of course the now well known Lizard Lick.

I have been to several of these (e.g., Humptulips, Zzyxx, Boring, Loveladies, etc.), and I went to school near Intercourse, though I think a more interesting town name is very nearby: Bird-in-Hand, PA.
