Bright or dim light?

This is inspired by another thread where someone suggested dim lights for romantic mood. What if the client wants s&m? I know nothing about s&m and have no idea what lighting is required. This led me to this question:

Leave it to me to be different. I don't want bright or dim lighting. I actually prefer somewhere in the middle. I definitely want to see, not just feel, the body with which I am playing. Well for S and M one of us is usually blindfolded and the other needs some light to inflict the pleasure, so a bit of light for sight but not so much to brighten the blindfold.

Funny thread. I have hired a few escorts who always closed the curtains or dimmed the lights when we started to play. When I have asked, they say that previous clients have wanted the light low because the clients are not happy with their body, etc. Since I am getting older and my eyesight isn’t what it used to be, I always request that they open the curtains if it is daylight or un-dim or turn up the lights if it is night.

Going back to the original post, I agree with the "romantic" mood of dimming the lights. But, not so dim that I can't see who I'm with - not just to see their body, but to be able to see their eyes, their facial expressions, etc.

 

Sex in total darkness can also be a lot of fun...but I'd prefer that only after I've been with the guy a few times.

Since most of my hires involve recreating some sort of version of Seven In A Barn, I prefer the natural light of the hayloft or manger. I want to see what I'm getting, but it doesn't have to feel like an operating theater at a medical school.
