During sex are you in your right mind?

This was initially a response to a post about a particular escort but I wanted to start a thread with this as the jumping off point.

Does great sex drive you out of your mind or at the very least, does it turn off your higher functioning? or Are you the type who can talk business on the phone and never miss a stroke in the bed?

"Many of us try to equate physical beauty with an incendiary sexual personae. Fact is, that is a rare combination.

Sure my eye goes to beautiful and my mind goes to the intelligent and my heart goes to the kind and thoughtful and gentle when I consider an ideal sexual partner.

BUT...

Once the sex act gets going, I tend to go blind. My vision has limited scope and my mind turns over to touch and to taste and to smell, the primal senses. My hearing is attuned to grunts and groans not to listening for eloquence or for content. My vision is used only to guide me to the next point of exploration, the hole being more important than the whole.

I am not sure everyone detaches from higher brain functioning during sex, but I feel lucky that I do.

As a result, while it is true that Ari's body has my mind inexorably racing to thoughts of hot sex and impassioned sweaty action, it is his ability to get me to travel back to my primal brain that makes me love the act and want to do it again and again and even at my age, with the right partner, again.

For my rocket to really take off, you need a hot sexuality which has little to do with the physical form. After all, who of us had not had very hot sex with the lights off and our eyes closed."

I answered this in the previous thread. But as an addendum- I'm not sure I could figure out a calculus problem during sex. But in the usual case unless possibly it was very late at night or if I'd had a drink or two- I'd say I have at least 75% of my higher faculties intact. I don't think I've ever "lost" it all as PK describes. About the only times I lose myself- mainly when I'm reading a really interesting book- I can be lost for hours- the same can happen with a play or movie- much less often TV.

I'm with PK. I'm gone completely. But I do remember one of the most hysterical text exchanges I had with one of my very best friends. WHILE he was being fucked. "What in the hell are you doing?" "He thinks I'm texting my office and it's turning him on even more". lol

I couldn't operate my keyboard while being fucked, that's for sure.

But no, it wasn't a great fuck, either. :)

I agree that with really wonderful sex, that the mind, at least my mind and senses get focused on those incredible moments of passion, intense pleasure, etc. It sometimes even happens with a great massage. I find my mind drifting in ways that I have to work very hard to control. Pleasure is always intensified when one can "let go" of the usual distractions and allow the body and all the other senses of touch, smell, vision, hearing, etc., take control and focus on the intense pleasure that is occurring. That is a natural function of the brain, and there have been some studies of how some people focus and others are able to disengage from cerebral activity and let the "lower brain" take over. So, let's all just enjoy the passion of the moment and worry about everything else later....

I'm just agog that people can let go like that during sex. Again I like sex- it's been over a week since I had it- and most likely is going to be a long while before I get it again- and I already miss it. I just don't lose myself in it the in the way that y'all describe.

I don't completely detach. Vision (and imagination) remain important, but my verbal ability greatly diminishes (and I'm not that

verbally inclined to begin with).

Unsurprisingly, when I'm making music or working on a difficult technical problem, any horniness or tumescent evidence thereof

completely disappears.
