Long term relationships in the gay community may happen much more than I am aware of, but I don't know of many so maybe that is why I get such a kick when I hear of things like this. I guess I am just a sucker for a love story.

Friends of mine just got married after 30 years together. The ceremony was followed by a great party, with many family members in attendance.

I met Jim in Maui in the mid-90's, he is a friendly man and seemed very down-to-earth. Took time to talk a bit about the Andy Griffith Show and his ranch.

That's awesome! Thirty-eight years is a lot longer than most straight couples manage. How can anyone say these two people, who have been together and in a committed relationship for four decades, are wrong? Love is love.

I'm old enough to remember the Jim Nabors-Rock Hudson "wedding" that was rumored in the 1970s. It spread like crazy. Hudson was so upset that he could be exposed as gay that he refused to speak to or see Nabors anymore, who had been one of his closest friends. Nabors later confirmed that Hudson never spoke to him again.
