forgive me if this has been discussed in the past; i'm not the MOST regular reader or contributor. i have, however, been around awhile, and would like to propose/ask/inquire about best practices here.

 

it seems to me that several posts in the past few months that were critical of escorts in general, and of a few in particular, crossed over the line of what is appropriate. today's incident was rather spectacular, for those of you missed it. i am not easily rocked, and it's not going to bother me at all, so this is not personal. i'm not looking for affirmation! or for an autopsy!

 

in past discussions with daddy, however, he has always made it clear to me that the forum and the reviews exist to SUPPORT escorts, not to tear them down or rip them apart in public forums. criticism here is meant to direct people—escorts and clients—toward best practices. to the extent that this is true, certainly this site should not be the kind of place where people go to say disparaging things about escorts in general, or really about any escort in particular, should it? most of the many good people here get that, and for the better part, things seem to go along smoothly. but the caddy, snide, condescending, and overt meanness of the few is sometimes very off-putting, too often tolerated, and sometimes even enjoyed. it seems that a line should be clearly and visibly set.

 

several weeks ago i felt compelled to jump into a thread against someone who was saying that escorts were, as a class, the most uneducated and unscrupulous people in any profession, or second only to one other, whatever... to me, that kind of talk, which insults and belittles every escort here, is simply out of place—completely and totally out of place. that fire was left to burn.

 

it is not my intent here to start a thread that in any way rehashes the events of today. i do, however, hope that we might come up with some better ways to think about, respond to, and regulate what is really abusive behavior on the boards. bonfires like today's erupt, i believe, when smaller fires are allowed to spread unregulated, and too often, even fed.

Escorts are just like everybody else. Some are smart, some less so. They exhibit all the attributes and foilibles the rest of us do. In short they are just human beings.

Well Tom, I have not seen the wild fire that erupted today. It was but a mere brush fire when I saw it earlier, but I can only imagine what is over there. I am almost afraid to look. I just finished communicating with a member here about that thread. I think in a perfect world if everyone was as reasonable as yourself or LBT or lookin or seeker, and certainly many many others, that there would not be a need for you to even post this, but we are not in that world, and you yourself had to defend escorts from a particular member who decided that being nasty would rule the day. That poster is now in time-out and the rest of the forum just goes on. As long as you have people like that with that kind of an attitude then there will never be civil discussion from a lot of people.

 

When I first joined this forum, many of my post were very angry, sarcastic and I would attack escorts and clients that I thought did not agree 100% with me, people I didn't even know. I can't explain it really. Perhaps it is the anonymity of this forum that gives people license to attack peoples character, profession, life style, political views.

 

I have given up trying to understand why people do what they do, except to say that I realized a long time ago, that as a species we are flawed. That is just the way it is Tom. Nothing can be done to change the inherent inability of man kind to get along with one another. After thousands of years on this planet, we are still killing each other, and no one can even agree on how to stop it, and some don't even want to try. I think that you just have to live your life with as much integrity as you can, stand up for what you believe in, treat those that you encounter in your life with respect, call to task those that don't, and let the rest of the world just do what it will.

 

Always enjoy your posts. I think that they are thoughtful, intelligent and provide much food for thought to the rest of the starving population...

I'm not sure what can be done, Tom. I despise the term "hater," mainly because it is so overused, but I think it applies in this case. I read these posts and am amazed at the depths to which people will sink. Take a look at the thread where someone asked about an escort based in Chicago. It turned into a thread bashing every escort located in the city!

 

I do wonder if some people think the presence of a financial transaction earns them the right to be mean, demanding, and rude.

I think the way to deal with negativity on the forum is to ignore it. I try to do it, but honestly, sometimes someone just gets my goat and I respond... playing right into their hands. My New Year's resolution, STOP RESPONDING TO NEGATIVITY AND ALWAYS USE "I" STATEMENTS.
