RIP: Gay Porn Star Josh Weston

The gay porn legend who worked exclusively for Falcon Studios before appearing in features for Hot House, Colt, and C1R has died.

 

Though a cause of death has not been officially released, both Falcon and Hot House confirmed his passing this morning. Weston, 39, signed with Falcon in 2001 and went on to star in their biggest titles of the decade (Deep South, Heaven To Hell, Taking Flight). Weston began his career as a dancer at the Nob Hill Theatre in San Francisco, and after being discovered there by Chi Chi LaRue, he quickly became one of the decade’s most iconic performers.

 

Weston’s later work with several bareback studios was seen by some as controversial, but his flawless physique and legendary performances are what, I think, will be remembered most.

 

Weston unfortunately joins a long list of performers who’ve died this year, including Erik Rhodes, Adam Faust, Corbin Fisher’s Sean, Roman Ragazzi, and more.

I'm utterly shocked and saddened by this news.

 

I knew Josh Weston. We've met a few times when he was living on the East Coast. He had a kind heart and gentle soul.

 

He touched people in a special way and brought something to the lives of many. I know that he'll be sorely missed.

"Word began spreading quickly via social networking sites, and this morning I spoke to a Falcon Studios rep who confirmed that adult industry legend Josh Weston died yesterday, December 16. I’m told tonight the cause of death was heart failure; I will update this post with more details when I can. Already, Falcon and Raging Stallion, Hot House and performers Conner Habib and Rob Romoni have posted their condolences online. It’s crushing news. Josh was a huge star for the better part of a decade following his erotic debut in 2002, celebrated for his flawless physique and his undeniable sexual mojo. He went on to film for Buckshot Productions and Hot House, among others; his final onscreen performances were in 2008 and ’09 for Spunk Video and SX Video. He was active on Rentboy.com for awhile, but for the past few years had been operating under the radar. I vividly recall laughing with Chi Chi LaRue behind the scenes of HEAVEN TO HELL for Falcon in 2005; in the space of a minute, Josh had cracked wise about Sylvia Plath and America’s Next Top Model. That should give you some idea about his wide-ranging intelligence and imagination. I reminisced about him earlier with John Rutherford of COLT Studio, who worked with him on a number of projects, and gave me this photo to use. It was taken on the set of MANLY HEAT: SCORCHED in 2006. Josh, you were a delight; safe travels. My condolences to his family, friends and fans."

Did Josh leave Falcon or did they stupidly let him go?

Josh Weston: I am no longer with Falcon, due to my personal political beliefs I simply wanted nothing to do with Halliburton or its subsidiaries. At any rate, I had a good run at Falcon, I had a great time. But I don’t think I'll be in porn much longer, and there were other people/companies I had always wanted to work with before I hang up my Jeff Stryker dildo.

 

Why did Josh remove his navy tatoo?

Josh Weston: I liked my tattoos, but having a tattoo was like wearing the same pair of shoes every single day, enough.

 

Does he have a boyfriend? What happened between him and Kent Larsen?

Josh Weston: I don’t have a boyfriend. I’m not wired for relationships.

 

Anybody know his real name?

Josh Weston: My real first name consists of 4 letters, one vowel (an A) and is kind of gay. Can anyone guess?

Josh Weston: My red string or 'Bendel' is a charm used to ward off 'occhulus malice' AKA evil eye. It’s also a talisman and just a constant reminder to forgive and peace. I do study several times a month at the K center on 48th. I know many think its hocus pocus, but my cells shift every visit.

I hail from a small town in Nevada where nothing much ever happened. My teen years were pretty ordinary considering where we were and so to fight the boredom I discovered athletics. It became my passion: I ran track and field, raced cross-country, captained the swim team, and was one of my high school's top contenders in the state diving championships. I may have started out as a skinny kid, but all those years of training helped me develop my stamina and flexibility. I earned the nickname "rubberband" from my swim coach for my ability to wind my way through a lot and quickly adapt to any situation.

 

In college, I studied sports fitness and became intent on transforming my lean runner's body into a more sculpted, gym-built form. After graduation, I moved to San Francisco, California to get a taste of the big city. Continuing with my interest in health and sports training, I quickly got a job as a personal trainer at some local gyms.

 

Money was tight, so to make ends meet, I started dancing at the Nob Hill Theatre. It's actually funny how I ended up there -- some out-of-town friends were visiting, and we decided to check the theatre out. It was amateur night and I was mistaken for one of the contestants. My best friend dared me to take the stage, and next thing I knew, I became the featured dancer!

 

Soon after, the theatre was hosting a Falcon Studios premiere. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was the irrepressible and inimitable Chi Chi LaRue. He spotted my talents (ahem) and I guess the rest, as they say, is history.

 

I've been working with Falcon as an exclusive since I signed with them in 2001. It's been an amazing experience, affording me all these new opportunities to meet great people and travel to different locations.

 

I am so fortunate being a member of the Falcon family. As I move into the next level with the company, developing my Web site has become my top priority. Lost a friend of mine not long ago to HIV complications. The doctor said that an otherwise healthy person would have survived the infection, which the doctors were not even sure how he got it, but HIV made fighting it twice as hard for him. He had lived 20 years with HIV, until he got a rare virus from they think the soil. He was always in his garden. Again, thanks for the update Joseph...

If it was a heart condition (the original report), I doubt that the thread be hijacked in this way. There's no disrespect in knowing the cause of death. Much of the porn industry is HIV+.

There is great shame in clucking and pointing fingers like little old ladies, but there is nothing shameful in mentioning an AIDS-related cause of death.
