Has anyone mentioned how good the meat is at Costco? We also live near one and often buy their steaks, which are excellent. The chicken is free- range and tastes good too.

We also bought some cakes their that were as good as any bakery cake.

The only problem I have at Costco is that I cannot figure out a polite way to get their resident hunk to show me his tits.

No one mentioned the fantastic meats or yes the incredible bakery, of which you can get reasonable sizes even for those of us who are single. Whenever I tell friends about Costco, all they seems focus on is the mayonnaise, the toilet paper, and the ketchup. Okaaaay, I say turn down another isle. Most items in the store are of a reasonable size....seriously.

and don't forget you can make lunch or dinner out of it, too, by judiciously visiting the various food sample ladies at Costco.....just don't block the whole goddam aisle with your cart while waiting for the next batch to come out (I hate that)....and say "thank you" to the little old ladies....I once asked a lady how many people said thanks - she said very few

Another thing that's quite a bit cheaper at Costco than anywhere else is liquor and beer.

If you drink canned beer, you can get a 36-can case for roughly the same cost as an 18-pack at the grocery store. And last time I was there I bought a bottle of Glenlivet for A LOT less than what it would cost elsewhere. I don't think they carry a size smaller than 1.75L but, hey, at these prices drink the good stuff! :p You can get Grey Goose for the liquor store price of Popov.

For an office potluck lunch, I'll usually grab a tray of wrap sandwiches from the deli section. I also often keep canned soups in my desk at the office for those days when getting out for lunch is difficult. Costco's 8-packs make that really inexpensive.

The meat is good if you have adequate freezer space to break up the packages (and the discipline to use what's in the freezer). Likewise bakery: I wanted some muffins last time I was there but there's no way in hell I'm buying a dozen of them!
