Is America Ready for GAY Boyscouts ????

A petition of over 275,000 signatures has caught the attention of the Boy Scouts of America who will review their policies, and could possibly vote on a restructure of those same policies by early 2013.

 

The Boy Scouts will consider a new policy for 2013 that would allow local charter organizations to decide for themselves whether to accept gay members and leaders.

 

The movement has been led by Zach Wahls, a viral superstar, and 20-year-old boy scout who met with high ranking Boy Scouts of America officials last week to chat about the huuuge petition he was admirably able to put together.

 

Here's what he said:

"One, is the fact that they were even willing to consider it -- this is a really big development. It has also happened at a time when we have this level of online mobilization ... that allows real change."

Again, people say that the President is just one man and his opinion isn't very important. But in the time since Obama finally "evolved," suddenly we have the NAACP come out in favor of marriage equality and now the Boy Scouts are rethinking their position. I don't think it's a coincidence.

I'm talking about the label "viral superstar." I think it's funny how many futuristic viewpoints of the media portray it like a game show. I don't think they're too far off.

I'm also a former Boy Scout who is gay. My support has been BSA non-existent due to their current policy.

For what its worth, when I was a teenager and belonged to the scouts, I had some of my earliest sexual exeriences at scout camp!

not ususual for young boys to "experiment" especially in those situations.... Doesnt make them Gay, but we can hope !

Agree wth BoN and Happyguy2, I am proof there are gay boy scouts/ Eagle scouts, and can even be found in rural East Texas! Since my late college years when the homophobia came to the forefront in my area, I withdrew my personal and financial support. There are many positive components to the organization, and I hope to see them progress in their awareness and inclusion. And like Happy, I have many fond memories of times at camp, ogling the leaders and boys, not to mention my first sexual experiences in the great outdoors!

I say, if the Boyscouts have a problem with GAY, just start a whole separate chapter. I know it shoud be about inclusion, but also about the goal and code. If gay are not wanted,

Separate but equal. White water fountains. Colored water fountains. Worked so well for my son's ancestors.
