Is "MODEL MAYHEM" a secret nest for male escorts?

During a recent visit, a well-known outstanding and gorgeous escort from Nevada swore to me that "Model Mayhem" was populated heavily by male escorts (or, as he said to me bluntly, "They are all hookers."). He himself was on that website.

I never knew this to be true, and never heard this from any other source.

Is this true?

Secret nest? Are you kidding?

Is bcohen out to trash Model Mayhem? Is he suggesting that Model Mayhem is nothing more than an online brothel posing as a portfolio website? What exactly is the point of this silly query?

IMO, the question is about as thought provoking as, "Are waiters and waitresses in NYC members of Actor's Equity?"

If you're fit, gorgeous, and photogenic, why on earth wouldn't you diversify your career and try to get modeling jobs? Does bcohen have any idea how difficult it is to get signed with a modeling agency? Does he not know how difficult it is sustain a lucrative modeling career?

Can a (known) escort get signed with a top agency? Probably not. Can an escort take advantage of all the paying jobs available that don't require an "agency" model? Absolutely.

Would I be stupid enough to solicit sex from a portfolio listing on Model Mayhem? Absolutely not. But some men are so horny, they think with a brain located in their penis.

That site is funny. At least half of those people are clearly not models. And the portfolios are generally atrocious.

But I used to get "massages" from a guy who had a portfolio there. Can't remember how I found him...might have been CL. He was a part time model/actor/student. Nice guy. A little quirky. My perfect type...lean, toned, blond, great eyes. I saw his gay engagement/wedding announcement on the gossip page in the newspaper a year or so ago. Not sure how he managed that.

I see no reason as to why an "escort" should not pursue an ambition to become a runway or print "model' and, modelmayhem.com, is one of several "on-line" venues to promote oneself in that particular industry. My "date" for my last sojourn at San Miguel Allende has a portfolio posted to modelmayhem.com, and, too, several other escorts of my acquaintance. Most attempt to keep their model and escort "personnas" separate and apart from each other.

Your persuasive notes, always unambiguous in their logic, prevail effortlessly against any countervailing views. It was never my intention to devalue cohort careers for male sex workers. My deepest apologies to any and all escorts suggesting they disincline themselves from advantaging their assets in the pages of fashion magazines or

any venues for the merchandising of expensive clothing. My deepest apologies to all clients who read my headline as if it implied "Model Mayhem" was a nest of vampires.

Indeed, quite the opposite....

I've been wondering for 3 days about bcohen7719's reasoning behind employing the word "nest" to describe a subset of men on Model Mayhem who might possibly be male escorts.

That it's a "secret nest" reads as being even MORE diabolical!

The craziest thought comes to mind, If it's a secret nest, how do the birdies get hired?

Nobody confused your post with the real "True Blood." You implied that Model Mayhem is a site that doubles as a "secret" escort site, and that is pretty damning, maybe libelous. You should write them and apologize, and avoid a lawsuit. Model Mayhem's terms of service are pretty thorough and clear. They maintain the right to end memberships if you break their rules, whether you pay for membership or not.

Pretentious writing aside, fashion magazines selling expensive clothing are a tiny segment of the advertising community. I realize many people associate the word "model" with fashion but the association is short-sighted. There are thousands upon thousands of jobs that call for an "every man" or a very specific look, and chances are a client won't find that face or type with a top modeling agency that is mostly known for its focus on fashion work. Fashion modeling demands specific requirements. Very few "models" fulfill those requirements.

Just like actors and extras in a movie, models come in all shapes and sizes, along with the budgets. And Model Mayhem has changed the way a lot of people find freelance work in front of a camera.

I was making an observation, not casting a stone. On an aside pertinent to this thread, a young man of my acquaintance, an aspiring model who had just attained his majority, informed me that he had posted his portfolio to ModelMayhem, and, that he had been contacted, promptly, by a well-known David Forest "model", an active "escort", soliciting him to come to Chicago for "private auditions". At a later date, the same Forest model referred an English gentleman to his modelmayhem listing, and, the lad found himself on the way to London for a week, all expenses paid; his "modelling" gig in that city proved to be a rentboy "gig" without a minute's time before a camera.

Robberbaron, would you mind sharing the name of this individual in private or in the forum? If he is indeed available for modeling services, i'd be interested! Thanks

That was funny. He can still technically argue it was a modeling gig, as some models do runway work or in-store modeling without a camera being present. This just happens to be modeling for an audience of one.
