I have a quick layover in Seattle coming up and was wondering if anyone could recommend an inexpensive yet safe and comfortable place to stay either in downtown or the airport general vicinity. All I am going to do is sleep there, I won't get in to almost midnight and leave the very next morning so it kind of kills me to pay for an expensive hotel when I won't even likely get to see the hotel in the daylight or enjoy any of its amenities.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

  • 2 weeks later...

I recently stayed at the Westin, which is undergoing renovation. They had conference rate rooms at $139 whereas the other "name brand" conference hotels were much higher. they were happy to upgrade me on the basis of an old Starwood frequent stayer club membership that I hadn't used in years. You probably could get a deal there esp. on hotels.com, etc.

I used to visit Seattle 1-2x/year and I can tell you this based on those experiences....Coast Hotels has a variety of properties downtown at various prices and my experience with them has been positive. In the past, a fall back has been the Best Western near Pioneer Square on Yesler Way, which includes a decent continental breakfast (or at least used to). This is a bit of a hike from the convention center and Pike Place Market, but because I like getting some exercise on a trip, I never found it to be a big deal. Pioneer Square has been making a long comeback since the late 80s. Lots of homeless near the Court buildings a few blocks away, but I never felt unsafe or all that bothered. Plenty of decent places to eat and drink nearby. Doubletree has converted the Arctic Club to a hotel which also is in this area, but closer to the center of downtown and they probably have deals.

Down,

Based on your schedule you probably should just go with any of the major chain hotels in the airport area. If you have a preferred chain and use their loyalty card you will probably find one. A quick look suggested probably a half dozen in the under 100 range. A good number have airport shuttles too. You could try http://www.13coins.com/ restaurant its a pretty well known 24 hr. option.

Not sure if I'm too late in responding or not, but if you're just looking to sleep I recommend the Doubletree across the street from the airport. Otherwise, if you want to be in the city book through Priceline.com. Bidding on a 4 star hotel always results in The Renaissance, Olive 8 (Hyatt) or The Westin. All are great hotels. Safe travels :)

That's good to know. I've stayed at the Grand Hyatt, and it was very nice, but less expensive would have been good. They did upgrade me to a huge, quiet room, so I guess I got my money's worth.

You're the Zachary Anders who has been well reviewed here? If you don't mind changing topics and answering a question about your escort business, how long do you consider an "overnight" to be? Dinner through breakfast? Something shorter?

Yes I am :) My overnight rate of 800 is for 8 hours, 50 each additional hour. It can start and finish whenever you'd like. Please email me at zacharyanders26@gmail.com if you'd like to meet. Next month I'm in Seattle, San Francisco and Portland.

Thanks to all for the excellent advice. I played around with bidding on priceline a bit before settling on a 'well reviewed' chain hotel located near the airport with shuttle. I think I was looking too far in advance to make the priceline thing work (probably best between 1 week to 2 months out is best).

@zacharyanders - welcome to the board and thanks for the names of the hotels that priceline places you. I once got their 4* deal in chicago and did not agree with what they considered 4*so I find info like this very helpful.

@Louie D - While I am not a fan of the 8 hour definition of overnight either, zachary does offer the extension of time at $50 per hour, meaning you could have the choice of 8 hours at 800, 10 hours at 900 or what I consider an overnight (12 hours) at 1000 which isn't that unreasonable compared to what others charge on here.

Thanks again to all who contributed!

8 hours is too short a time for an overnight. 8 hours is sleep time. Everytime I have hired for an overnight, it has been dinner through breakfast. I wouldn't consider hiring anyone for an 8 hour overnight.

8 hours would be dinner and kick 'em out of bed at 3 AM.

If he snores, that might happen anyway.

Ha! So right. How absurd.

My point is the extra $50 per hour, (yes, I read his rates) is nickel and dime'ing on an overnight. It's tantamount to clock-watching.

Maybe clients in Seattle don't even call until midnight, or everyone gets up at 5 AM there.

Or maybe he has discovered that this fee structure results in a higher hire rate than $1000 for 12 hours, even though the total is the same.
