Since I have been gaining some national notoriety lately I am beginning to get some offers to do porn again. Last week when in Nola for Mardi gras I was contacted by three different studios. Everything sounded good UNTIL they insisted that every scene would be barebaking with me as the top. When I explained to the casting directors that I ONLY practice safe sex they were somewhat upset with me. When I told them that even a negative hiv test is only good up until the day it was done or several days/weeks before it was done ,actually, then he started talking about a new test that eliminates that concern. Now I have many M.D. clients who have NEVER told me that. I still believe that 100% condom usage is the safe, sane and responsible thing to do. Looking for everyones imput on this. BAREBACKING IS NOW HUGE WITH GUYS 35 AND UNDER! why? ONE MORE THOUGHT: alot of clients and even some younger escorts/porn stars have asked me why I did not do videos in my twink/twunk days.? I only did magazines because the two video shoots I showed up for were COCAINE Partys. I attended my fair share of funerals of friends/associates who died from drugs and I walked off those two porn sets never to return in protest of the killer drug! Now they are barebacking. We know that real life ALWAYS imitates art and so in my opinion the on screen barebacking will lead to off-screen infections and I cannot and will not be a part of that! http://www.rentboy.com/mikey9nola1

I applaud your ability and good sense to walk away from this. It shows great personal character (which was never doubted with you anyway). But it is also a good cautionary tale. Way too many escorts who cross over (or crossed over) to the porn industry in the past or even now, seems to be more than willing to be in bareback scenes, which is a good reason I refrain from anal sex with most escorts.

Mikey, to affirm your decision not to do bareback porn, I offer two reasons, a philosophical one, and a practical one:

I believe that bareback porn reinforces the idea that bareback sex is the hottest sex. Advocates of bareback porn always seem to state that they're just presenting a fantasy and that they don't recommend barebacking. However, by idealizing it, they help define it as most desirable. And, the more exposure it gets, the more "normal" it seems. Like it or not, people learn about sex by watching porn. Participating in bareback porn, or even supporting it as a customer, promotes barebacking and will ultimately promote HIV.

And, from a practical point of view, it seems like it could be disastrous to your business, and perhaps your health. As has been discussed here many times, a lot of clients will stay far away from escorts who bareback. Once you've done bareback porn, it'll be lot harder to say "no" to escorting clients looking for unsafe sex, and you might even start attracting a lot more of them based on the porn work.

I don't believe that safe sex can ever be brought up too much...

That said, I've noticed a lot of posts from clients (including newbies) asking about escorts who DO participate in bareback porn.

Clients, how do you approach hiring someone like this? Do you say "I assume everyone has some STD, so it's no biggie" and just take standard precautions? Do you go above and beyond with protection? Do you refuse to hire escorts from bareback porn? Escorts, if someone comes out and admits they have HIV—do you set up an appointment or no?

From my own personal experience, I've dated two guys with HIV and while it took getting used to with the first one—it quickly became no big deal as long as we played safe. Both were very conscientious about non-condom play (which I appreciated), and about watching where body fluids went. The only thing that was a recurring factor were mouth issues (canker sores, mouth bites, cold sores, etc). Other than that, I was always pretty comfortable with doing anything.

And for the record—I disagree with the statements that "on screen barebacking will lead to off-screen infections" (Mikey) and "even supporting it as a customer, promotes barebacking and will ultimately promote HIV" (corndog). If anything, I see bareback porn (and porn in general) as being a safety release valve of sorts—allowing me to experience something vicariously without having to assume the risk. Perhaps if TIM and HDK and other studios actually put out material that didn't merely appeal to my lust button and actually had some creativity or a modicum of plot or some true filmmaking style other than "this hotel room has striped wallpaper instead of floral wallpaper," it might be different. I may see some new technique or an act that I might like to try—but barebacking with some stranger with an unknown sexual history is not one them. I am of the opinion that someone who barebacks indiscriminately is going to do so without any prodding from a porn flick—that's not going to be their gateway drug, as it were.

I can only speak for myself, but, first, I think there are really only two HIV statuses, "Positive" and "Unknown." I assume that everyone I'm with is Positive, and behave accordingly. That said, I have a different attitude about someone who is known HIV+ and known barebacker. I believe that safer sex requires a commitment from both people involved. If a condom breaks, and I'm not aware of it, I want to be able to trust my sexual partner to pause the action and rectify the situation. To me, barebacking represents a lack of respect for HIV, and if the person I'm with is known to be ok with barebacking, then I can't trust them to help me ensure that things don't go from "safer" to "unsafe."

(No need to tell me that I can't really trust anyone. I know that. However, I can have a little more trust in someone if I feel like their goals are aligned with mine.)

I will NEVER hire anyone whom I know has been participating in barebacking. That said, I always suit up with any partner. I have lost to many friends to ADIS and am apalled by the companies that encourage bareback porn. I don't buy or watch their films either. Unfortunately some younger guys and gals think they are invincible. Yes, the current drugs can make living with the virus possible for a long time... but like so many other diseases, living with something that will never cure the disease is not something that I would like to contemplate. So I aplaud you, Mickey and all the other guys who just say "NO" to barebacking. The money is just not worth the possible consequences.

Gentlemen: Many us of here barebacked for years. Sex could be very spontaneous, there was the added excitement of raw skin on raw skin, you could come inside a man instead of having to pull out. It was great, no doubt the way that sex was meant to be. Then came AIDS, and we learned the dangers of barebacking in the presence of a deadly virus. Seeing people die all around us made the point just as clear as it could be. Nowadays people don't see guys dying every day, or wasting away. They don't have those reminders, and they think of all of the healthy looking POZ guys who spend their days at the gym and look great. Is it no wonder that the younger guys, who seem to think they will live forever under any circumstances, would ignore the dangers of HIV? It's up to us to keep a constant vigil, to make sure that they do understand the dangers. And part of that is setting an example for them. That's why each Monday I head for the town square and let all of the cute guys fuck me, but only with a condom ! I even show them how to use it.

I can't compare the two never had anal sex without a condom not even in long term so condoms is all I know. I remember being a teen and hearing each week how someone else had died. I remember seeing tv shows like 20/20 and other documentary's men would be skin & bones with sores all over their body's I remember seeing that and thinking this shit ain't ever happening too me. I was so scared after seeing those programs that it put such a fear in me that I didn't lose my virginity until I was 30 years old. Like previously mentioned people today don't have that image that I remember seeing to keep them in check.

fiercely loyal to my magnum xls but not afraid to try a new brand. J

I love my magnum's! Only one complaint, they are a "little" loose fitting. hmmm...

On the bareback porn thing, I've said it before, the more of that type of porn is available, the more people will get the impression that somehow barebacking is "safer" now. Not good.

I never barebake. I always wear an apron.

Same here but I have had a few clients over the years who have asked me to come over their back and ass and then get a toy and spoon my cum inside them. First time shocked me, second time concerned me. I don't have anything but these were married men taking risks. In 12 years it's only happened a couple of times

I can only speak from my small world....since learning I was positive, I have had more guys want to hookup with me because they do not need to use anything....

I originally thought that I would find it more difficult to have sex with guys due to my status..I can report that it is the opposite...a few "no thank you"s and a lot of guys who claim to be negative wanting to be barebacked or to have me bareback....my insistance on letting people know coupled with my profile on websites only seems to create more interest in these guys seeing me...go figure.
