When Gay Guys Come Out....

I remember seeing an episode of QAF several years ago where they were talking about gay guys going through a "slutty" period when they first come out.

 

I just wondered if this is true. Do most guys, when they first really deal with being gay, go through a lot of sexual partners?

I did not go through a slutty period when I first came out (that came later.. well not too slutty lol) but I did go a little crazy with the purchasing gay porn. Of course this was before you could find it all over the internet for free.

Slutty...that is putting it mildly. I practically lived at a 'Bath House' called 8709. I almost became addicted to going there. Some of the hottest guys in LA were there. You could do take-out from inside the bathhouse downstairs, it was fabulous. You literally never had to leave.

When I first came out I ended up dating my first sexual experience for 1 year. Then I met someone and we were together slightly under 4 years until he died from injury's from a car accident. came out in 98 and never did a one night stand hookup until 2004. Even went from august 2009 to march of 2011 celibate and no dates during that Time. So for myself I d say that I didn't go through that after coming out

I have never totally "come out" in the sense some say here, but when I accepted who I am to myself, went through quite a rambunctious period hitting every popular bath house in Europe, planning whole weekend trips around exploring them (this when you could get a special SPARTICUS Guide just on gay saunas and escort bars!!!). Ah the pleasures I experienced endlessly (and generally "freely") in Amsterdam, Hamburg, FFM, Cologne, Paris, Munich, Prague, Budapest, Bucharest.... I look back and wonder how I had the stamina. Now I am more reserved, picky and choosy when I do have an encounter.

Of course, everything is relative. Slutty for me might be just a slow afternoon at Home Depot for one forum member (love you guy). I guess including escorts, I've probably had 20-25 or so sexual partners since I came out about 15 months ago. Of course I also know it would be considerably higher if I hadn't stopped using Grindr, Manhunt, Scruff and the like shortly after I started seriously dating my now partner. I haven't been on any of those sites in 6 months at least. Love does funny things to you sometimes.

everyone is different and that could be a stereotype. i just kinda thought your 20's was the slutty period in your life regardless if you're str8 or gay. it's kinda hard to say it's not true especially with the gay community..............coming out isn't the only slutty period some people go through..................

I think I first admitted to myself that I was gay while i was in college, but even tho I was at an all-male school, i was never aware of any opportunities on our small and isolated campus. But when I went to graduate school at a large state university, I quickly discovered that certain restrooms in certain buildings were infamous 'tea rooms' - places where guys went to hook up. It was real revelation to me that many guys there were NOT the effeminate stereotypes I had only known of previously - my first 'trick' was an athletic blonde, and I was practically speechless that someone who looked so wholesome wanted to do those things for me! I went through the 'kid in a candy store' phase for several years ('I''ll have one of those, and one of those and two of those, and...." ), often hooking up several times a week.

Coming late to this thread and coming late to being queer, I am now at 60 in my slutty period. Between escorts and hookups on manhunt, a4a, bareback, and silver daddies, I am making dates for sex six or seven times in a week...granted half of those don't come to fruition but not through any fault of my own....I can;t seem to get enough affirmation of my new sexual identity...hoping this phase in my life slows down to a couple a week....but for no there are just too many men and too little time, as the saying goes.
