Heading to New York for New Years. Arriving Saturday, staying at the Royalton. So just how bad is New York affected by the storm? How much did it snow in the city proper? I know New York digs out pretty fast after these things hit. So that we can be properly prepared, how bad are things going to be by Saturday and on in to next week?

Thanks again to everyone for your earlier suggestions on things to see, places to go and people to do. :-) The messages are printed out and we will try to squeeze in as many as possible.

Essentially, all that's left of the big storm, at least in Manhattan, are large puddles of slush and some slippery sidewalks. By this weekend, with above freezing temps around, it should be as back to normal as this crazy city can be. My b/f and I are heading for South Beach tomorrow. Hopefully, there was no snow storm there! Just lots of hot guys in speedos. :9

Actually, I just checked the weather for South Beach. Seems nice. Highs in the high 70s. Perhaps a bit chilly for Speedo weather. Glad to hear that New York isn't still frozen solid. Enjoy your travels to the south.

If you plan on doing the Times Square thing, bring everything warm you own. I thought I'd do it last year, once in a lifetime, do it now ... Well those people that are actually in Times Square got there about 2PM and stayed there the whole time. I froze my butt and decided the view is better on TV with someone hot beside me. Also be advised if security is anything like last year, they only let you into the area at specific places, and the hotels right on Times Square-Marquis, Renaissance, Doubletree - required room keys to even go in the building, so visits from your favorite hot guy are severely restricted that evening. All that being said, the atmosphere is like nothing else, so go for it if its your thing

On behalf of all New York bound tourists, your sacrifice on behalf of the health, welfare and comfort of us all is appreciated. Should you require additional kinetic energy from which to develop friction, I will gladly contribute my fair share. :p
