Congrats Charlie! :-)

Lee, can you tell me the order of & significance of title? Their might even be a thread already & I haven't read it...lol

Rik -- this is a frequently asked question so let me go through the titles very briefly:

Newbie (0-9)

Novice (10-24)

Apprentice (25-49)

Journeyman (50-99)

Master (100-249)

Knight (250-499)

Lord (500-749)

Baron (750-999)

Viscount (1000-1999)

Count (2000-2999)

Earl (3000-3999)

Marquess (4000-4999)

Duke (5000-5999)

Peer (6000-7499)

Prince (7500+)

I think the only question I have is prince achieved at 7000 or 7500?

Charlie becomes the 16th member to reach the level of Marquess. Currently we have 3 members who are at the Prince Level: Deej, Lucky and Rick Munroe, we have had 3 Peers (glutes, Axiom and JTBrooklyn (now Brooklyn Guy)), 2 dukes (zipperzone and myself), 8 Marquesses, 5 Earls, 23 Counts, and 47 Viscounts. Although I must admit I haven't updated my list in a few weeks (between DC Forum lunch, illness and focusing a bit more on my life). I will try to update my list shortly.

There have been two other new title holders who need to be congratulated as well. Two new counts: Gar1eth and Adriano46. Sorry I missed those elevations guys. Congrats to you both as well.

Yes! A special congratulations to Charlie!!! His posts certainly epitomize sophistication and refinement... and as such are a special asset to the forum.

He may not remember, but he gave me some special advice way back when I first officially joined this site in 2005 after having lurked for the previous 5 years. He and a few other posters made me feel welcome at the time and for that I will always be grateful!

It might be pointed out that among European nobility, an Earl (British) and a Count (European) are equivalent titles, which is why in Britain, the female equivalent of an Earl is a Countess. There is no separate rank of Peer, which is a titled member of the nobility of which ever rank.

I was going to point this very fact out myself :-) but you beat me to it.

Charlie, keep the avatar as it fits you so well. Please add my congratulations to all those already made. Yours is a voice I look to for experience and sanity in all the forums to which you post, one that supplies me with humor, good information, and well considered opinion. Again, congratulations.

Congratulations Charlie on your new title, but, most important, your constant dedication to the Forum and its members along with maintaining the traditions that are its solid foundation.

Boston Bill

See you in PS

CHARLIE, I, too, would like to congratulate you on this momentous fete. Continue to contribute in such salient and helpful manner. - Axiom -

In defence of Charlie and DD...

Sarcasm...

At times "cutting language meant to mock" is indeed appropriate... and especially when used with a bit of humor... This is our Charlie... and as I recall he did use it in a quite urbane manner when warning me about a certain escort quite some time ago shortly after I joined the forum... and at the time I was quite grateful for his "sarcastic" remarks!

Steven noticed that DiverDan used the word 'scarcastic - and I'm guessing that was a typo?

Very little escapes Detective Draker's eagle eye.
... and my typing of "sarcastic" in quotes was supposed to be "scartastic"... so I guess that I don't have detective Draker's "eagle eyes"... but that happens when one types with two fingers and it is way past one's bedtime!
