After looking at the wipeout of UCLA by chief rival USC, Matt Barkley makes my day!

Here's hoping that they played badly enough and he's still around for my Deadskins to get a chance to draft Mr. Barkley. I've been aware of him since he was like a junior or senior in high school. At least I think he has his head on straighter than the last "can't miss" quarterback who was groomed for the position since childhood: Todd Marijuaniovich.

As far as the BCS, there is no choice: LSU, Alabama. The biggest concern I have is frequently the rematch is not nearly as exciting as the first game. And considering how exciting the first game was (9-6 LSU), we might as well just have the kickers hold a field goal kicking contest and be done with it.

I'm hoping that somehow Georgia pulls off the upset in the SEC title game and then see who ends up in the title game.

And I agree with JAG - I'd spend a little money on Matt.

Sam -- I think it would take a Georgia blowout of massive proportions to keep LSU from being in the BCS title game. Maybe even a 40 point loss wouldn't do it. So I think we are pretty much going to get LSU/Bama, Part Deux. I just hope it is a better game than the first. I wouldn't bet on it, but there's always hope.

But if Georgia wins, isn't it guaranteed a BCS bowl birth? And don't BCS rule prohibit three teams from the same conference competing in BCS bowls? If I understand correctly, then only LSU or Alabama can play in the title game.

Yes they would get a BCS bowl birth, but I believe the title game may be excluded so you could in effect have 3 teams from the SEC in BCS games, since the BCS Title game is technically not a bowl game. Of course, that means Arkansas would be excluded. Every analysis I've seen says that even an LSU loss in the game would not preclude the rematch.

A better game would be Oklahoma State LSU. What does a LSU Alabama game prove? LSU beat Alabama at Alabama. Even if Alabama beats LSU at a neutral site, one would still say LSU played two games with Alabama and split them and had the disadvantage of playing on the road. Oklahoma State lost by missing a field goal and if they were to beat LSU well then you have debatable championship. If LSU should win that game, there would be no doubt as to the best team in the country.

One could also make a case for Houston. Despite their weak schedule of opponents, they are the only other undefeated team.

Thank you PK, I concur. No more re-runs...

I have to admit, it has been different living in Columbus without a full autumn of hearing hearing how Ohio State is getting no respect in the polls. (They are not getting any this year, but no one is complaining.)

I prefer any match up other than an Alabama/LSU rematch. I fell asleep during the first game; I don't want another boring evening of football.

I agree with PK...LSU vs. OK State (or even Stanford or Virginia Tech) would make more sense than a re-match between LSU and BAMA (we've been there, done that).

Did anyone catch the post game interview of Tim Tebow week before last when he donned a skin tight blue sleeveless jersey? OMG what a total and complete hunk of meat.

Naturally, I hope the Sooners beat Oklahoma State in the annual "Bedlam" game this weekend. However, if OSU beats OU instead, the Cowboys would deserve an opportunity to test their mettle against the #1 ranked BCS team (presumably LSU).

Tebow is indeed a beefy hunk...I'd eagerly tap that!

I'm partial to the SEC, SEC WEST and my home state of Alabama, except I'm an Auburn Fan - WDE!

But I wouldn't mind seeing a re-match of LSU-AL, just one thing, though, if AL wins, do they split the BCS Trophy?

Exactly the point, ISC. If Alabama wins on a neutral field and loses at home to the same team wouldnt you say they had an overall advantage in the play of the games and as a result LSU should probably be named the champion after losing the championship game. Avoid all that and pick a school from a different conference. If OSU comes in and bests LSU by a score of something like 42-24, Saints beat the Giants by that last night, then I think it is pretty clear that OSU is the better team. The Alabama LSU 9-6 snooze fest does not need repeating but probably will repeat like one of those meat and three meals down Alabama way.

A Bama fan buddy of mine says if you watch the replay of the LSU victory over Bama that you will see bad officiating took away a Bama touchdown. There's still so much gray...

And if you play it backwards and slowly, you'll hear Hey Jude. lol. And they'll get their wife, the dog and their truck back.
