anyone know about hosting a WEBINAR?

hi guys

i am offering a webinar about hiring escorts. i have the skills to organize and teach it... but i don't have the knowledge about setting up the actual webinar.

 

couple of questions:

 

- in my limited investigation into it, it seems that for participants to be in a webinar, they would have to download webinar software. does anyone know of a way to do this WITHOUT downloading such? i'm guessing that some participants probably wouldnt want to have to explain why webinar software would be downloaded to their computer...

 

- one thing that many people seem to have is skype. i *think* skype can be multiple users on at once, in essence, a webinar - has anyone done this? any plusses or minuses of skype that you might want to share?

 

- any suggestions about having a webinar that is as anonymous as possible? some of the people participating would probably desire full privacy (a pseudonym, no visual of their face, no history, etc).

 

- any other insight you could give me would be appreciated...

finally - if you would like to be my tech guy and help me set this thing up, you could sit in on it as my guest (i am otherwise requesting a $50 donation per participant) you can see that i'm really not keen on doing the web side of the this...

I participate in web conferencing and webinars pretty regularly in my day job. Gotomeeting.com and webex.com are two of the more often used services in my experience. They seem comparable, but I have a slight preference for the gotomeeting format.

 

Both of these involve downloading or running the proprietary software, but I'm not sure what it leaves behind on the computer. In any case, both of these services are routinely used in the business world so nobody would be alarmed if they found gotomeeting or webex software on someone's computer. They're used for web conferences, continuing education presentations, product demos, etc. so nothing out of the ordinary, and they're both very easy for the novice (your viewers) to use for the first time.

Those really are the best players. I'm partial to Webex but ONLY because it's the one I've used most often. (Familiarity always wins.)

As a complete Nincompoop and Luddite, I will say that webex is particularly good. My only issue with it was that I actually had to dial "+1" on an 800/877/866 phone call, to get the right number. Never had to do that with any other phones in the U.S. of A., at least, not lately.

If you use a dial out LD service like Cardinal you will have to dial the 1 for every LD call. I prefer a land line for calls, especially if they are going to be of any length.
