I am dating myself, but there is one perfect little grammar book called "The Little Book" by Strunk and White. It is still relevant today. And what absolutely drives me crazy to this day is the total misuse of "fewer" and "less". And the proper use of those terms is such an easy concept to understand. Blame my New England all boys boarding school background for this one.

Poolboy, Poor sole to be setenced to a New Englad boarding school is truly a crime. Surprised you didn't succumb to severe boredom. There are people who even claim that Bostonians don't even know how to speak the Queen's English. Right, Mr Ohio!!!

Having been an English major in college and taught high school English, the Strunk and White book is still the easiest and most accurate book of its type,

My mispellings are generally because I get into the topic and don't review in general before submitting. When perusing the Galleries, my mind is on other visuals besides spelling and grammar

I usually bypass small errors such as in Bosguy's posting. I am pointing them out for two reasons: 1 The nature of this thread 2 It is likely someone else will. Usually misspellings do not bother me nor do homophonic errors, but as others have stated, these kind of errors lead me to think less of the point being made and more about the form of the writing.

So, unless he is part of a shoe, Poolboy is probably and old soul rather than an old sole. And misspellings as mispellings has the potential for irony particular if one was trying to convey his disdain for incorrect spelling.

Kevin, ID and superego, very nice play on meaning. One of the wittiest ones i have seen in the forum. Nice job.

Watch out for those homophonic errors . . .

I think you mean The Elements of Style. Anyone who writes in the English language should be required to read it.

Kevin Slater

Many thanks Mr. Slater for the correct title of the book. I think one of my teachers must have referred to it as The Little Book.

Agree, but masturbation is still masturbation and if speed is the goal then "doing yourself" is probably the speediest way to go, but not necessarily the most correct.

You're losing your edge, killer. Be careful, or one day in the not too distant future you'll find yourself riding a hot boy and fretting about whether you're fucking him too hard.
