That, in my opinion, would be fair. That's a good suggestion, but really I think it's more the escort's responsibility to give the client a heads up that there will be five o'clock shadow.

I'd say that by telling the escort something he apparently didn't know -- that days-old stubble doesn't feel good to rub against -- the client did the escort more of a favor than if he'd made up other activities for them to do. I wouldn't be surprised if this escort has lost repeat business from other clients who were similarly turned off but too nice to say anything. (And since we now know that the client did the right thing and paid the escort, doesn't it seem like if anyone should have been brainstorming for other ways to make the session work it should have been the escort)?

Devon, you are so right on (as usual!). Some time ago I met with one of the "international stars" of escorts, one who has had consistently glowing reviews. I was really excited, had in fact been waiting over a year to meet him, because he temporarily retired from escorting just as I had been about to contact him. Please, thats a bunch of crap. Your defensive demeanor tells alot about you.... The escort did not "drop" anything. He did NOT do any favor for the client if he is accepting a fee. This was NOT a comp (freebie) and he wasn't begged. He could have said "no". The escort was given the opportunity to work for a FEE and he should reasonably perform in accordance with his paying clients expectations. The escort could have said no if his schedule was tight or if the time wasn't right. If a escort expects to be paid in part or full, then he better have the integrity and professionalalism to be up for the task.

 

Having said that, responsibilty exists for BOTH the client and the escort to ensure expectations will be met especially when they have only met once or a few times. Although this is certainly not the first time that stubble has scratched at these threads (somehow I want to make a pun or a metaphor or something but it's too early in the morning and I apologize), the situation itself is really interesting to me. What's specially interesting about it is the differing perspectives of (some) clients and (some) escorts.

 

1. For instance, from a client's viewpoint, an escort presents himself as smooth or hirsute as a marketing strategy. From the escort's viewpoint, there could be any number of reasons for shaving his body -- vanity, erotic attraction, what his boyfriend likes, or (even) business.

 

2. It is not for the escort to say, "it's not too rough." If it's too rough for the client, it's too rough, even if the escort shaved ten minutes before arriving for the appointment. How the client manages the "too rough" part will depend on a lot of things, including the sensitivity of his skin as well as his feelings for the escort.

 

3. Whether escorts or clients, however, I think many, many men do not realize how profoundly distasteful it is to some of us to feel that awful glass-wool stubble on a body that purports to be smooth. Many men don't seem to realize that shaved skin looks different from naturally hairless skin. Many -- escorts and clients alike -- don't seem to realize that for some of us, shaving is not just a matter of fashion or looks, but a prosthetic adjustment that can cause some of us (like me) to feel even a little sickened by it.

 

THEREFORE, I think that escorts who shave their bodies should shave them just as often as necessary to keep them as smooth as a baby's ass. I think this is great advice, not only for the stubs but anything else where a potential client might be lead to expect something different than what's really on offer. Especially, when there are representations such as photos, or past experiences that the client is going by, and something has changed that the client wouldn't be aware of (5 o'clock shadow, new facial hair, haircut, etc.) that might make him less (or more) desirable than what would otherwise be expected. Out of professionalism, the escort should disclose all that when making the appointment.

I agree. At the risk of sounding really pretentious or philosophical (umm, maybe it's already too late!), I think it's kind of sad or at least annoying that so many guys feel the need to shave clean. Some in this thread have remarked that guys should just pick one -- smooth or hairy -- and stick with it, which is good because it allows that hairy is OK. This hairless aesthetic has been dominating everything for the last 20 years or so, but hopefully tastes are starting to swing the other way: whenever I've ventured into porn I've been told to let my body hair grow out, since there's a big demand for that now, which surprised me.
