The sandals, not the guys that identify themselves as sexually "versatile". I have never in my life had a foot fetish, or have even been remotely interested in feet. But here in New York the popular footwear seems to be the must have for summer. Every person of every age is wearing flip-flops. Cute business guys are even wearing them with business suits. This phenomenon has really forced me to start noticing feet, specifically guys feet, and I must say, if the foot is attached to a muscular calf, and is nicely shaped and well groomed, they can be quite a turn-on. Dont get me wrong, I still have no desire to put a foot in my mouth, but there have been many times i have said to myself "that guy has sexy feet"....

What is your feeling on feet and flip-flops, and are they the Must Have footwear for summer in your next of the woods.?:confused::confused:

I'm not much of a foot person. soon as I shower the socks go on. I even sleep in my socks lol. I own some flip flops but just wear them around the home. due to lack of support they hurt my feet to wear them out or for a very long time.

For fuck's sake...we must be going into another era.

I was just getting on Denver about every guy in a nightclub; everywhere you go no matter how special the occasion wearing flip flops. But to hear it's like that in New York too? Speechless.

I think they are a sorry excuse, lazy way of dressing and should not be worn no further than 100 feet from your home unless it's the beach. Or unless you're going out for a booty call after hours.

Now, don't get me wrong...yes they do look sexy on some people but it's not proper. I used to live in Florida, and flip flops were so out of control that schools began to ban them for being 'health hazards' or something like that.

I feel bad for the shoe stores, especially higher end ones...especially for men. When I go to a nightclub on a Saturday night, or out to dinner and see people wearing flip flops, I think to myself...nobody is spending money on nice shoes anymore!

Unfortunately it's pretty hard to avoid. If a guy wants to wear them then that's on them. But when you're in a place with 1,200 people with heels and these:

...I don't wanna hear that people are stepping on your feet. (by the way I happen to have a pair of the above shoes)

I think they are okay to wear around the house. I normally toss mine on to run out too the mail box. or just wear around the apartment. Iv gone on a few dates in the last few months and all but one wore those things out too dinner.. To me they are more for the beach or just a lazy day around the house.

There everywhere in downtown Boston and all along the coast its ludicrous. It's like part of the official yuppy uniform. The worst part of them is the noise. Walking through a mall full of flip flop people is like being in the middle of a thunderstorm.

What's funny is...when I used to go to the beach, I didn't even wear flipflops then LOL. I'd wear my Nikes and then take them off as I got closer to shore. I hated sand in my toes :(

However, once I started wanting to go to the gym Sauna...buying flip flops was a must. The one place where people should wear them, and they don't.

I had a date sat night freshly showered nice jeans and shoes polo shirt and my allure homme sport cologne lol this guy shows up in a tee shirt camouflaged cargo shorts and those damn flip flops.

LOL, get out of here! Went on a date with someone who did the same thing. Camouflaged shorts. And we were going to a moderately expensive Italian restaurant where all the business men of the day go to eat. I told him, "here wear my jeans!" And I NEVER let anyone wear my clothes.

Was that a deal breaker for you LOL?

They are called Haviannas and they are "trash" footwear in Brazil but they started catching on in the US a couple of years ago. Now there are Havianna stores in the US that sell flip flops. Jimmy Buffett would be proud!

Wasn't a deal breaker for me but something was a deal breaker for him. I really liked him allot he was very kind and sweet. he would take my hand and close his around it and would stroke my face. very sweet and attentive. The deal breaker as in his words was 2 tops don't make a bottom. I told him if I liked a person enough id be willing too try. He said most bottoms liked to be submissive and dominated and he couldn't picture me being submissive. IMO people in ATL are just to damn nit picky. not just over one or two things but nit picky about everything. they like me then whats the harm in giving it a shot?

This seems to be the case everywhere...Sadly

I think most people over-estimate how good their feet look. I see guys (and girls) truckin' around in flip-flops all the time. A lot of them don't have enough arches to bring this look off effectively. At the beach, I'm less judgmental, at least about footwear.

People who object to flip flops probably also object to wearing <gasp> shorts, short-sleeve shirts without ties, and other accommodations to environment.

In some climates (and this summer in most of the country) it's a defense mechanism. It's fucking hot out there! I don't care how far your nose gets out of joint, I'm going to be comfortable.

It was 104°F on Friday in NYC and the heat index was over 110. So YES my flip flops left the hotel room and made it to quite a few places I wouldn't normally wear them. And my pants didn't quite hit my knee - and I was still soaked with sweat after about 10 minutes outside. Typically, my flip flops don't make it out of the hotel except in Honolulu or similar places but lets be realistic, with the summer we've been having my dress code has relaxed even further.

Well Deej, maybe you're right - a lot of people over-estimate how good their legs look too and maybe ought to hold off on the shorts. With air conditioning being as commonplace as it is now, I'm not sure that that's a real justificiation that holds water. Call me on old conservative fart but short sleeve shirts and ties together look less than professional. Short sleeve shirts are fine.

I understand about the climate this summer and being comfortable, but we are always onstage - someone is always watching whatever we do. (not saying that's good or bad, it just is). Be comfortable, but remember the rest of us have to look at whatever it is that you're wearing in the name of comfort. Keep America Beautiful!

For what it's worth (not much, I'm sure - I don't take this too seriously and I hope you won't either), I tend to loosen up as the summer drags on. But the first warm days are always a shock to watch people appear in public wearing more revealing attire (that they may not have the right, er shall we say, shape for. . . )

I am in favor of tasteful attire. There is nothing inherently tasteless in short-sleeve shirts, shorts, or tasteful flip flops.

Do people take them there? Yeah. Sure. Bad taste is universal. The same people probably show exquisitely bad taste in full business drag.

It isn't the flip flops, shorts, etc., that makes them tacky. ;)

I'm just a hold-out from an earlier time, I guess (well I don't guess nothing - it's true). When I was a child, I remember my mother saying something like, "you're not leaving the house like that. You should look more "dressed up" when you go in town. Anything less is low class." I've been trying to overcome these obstacles of my youth, but it is a constant struggle. Tasteful flip flops is an oxymoron - much like "military intelligence" was during the Viet Nam war era. And it doesn't matter what you paid for them or how stylish they are - they are still flip flops! Fun - yes; comfortable - maybe; tasteful - I doubt it!

Shorts are fine, short sleeve shirts I wear them in all colors. Flip flops are different.

If you really want to discuss enviroment and defense mechanism LOL, best bet is to wear shoes rather than flip flops due to the risk of foot cancer...from the blazing sun and all. I've never really felt that wearing flip flops made me any cooler.

I'm the same way. Well, that is, I don't care about sand in my toes but I never wear flip-flops, even to the beach. I like proper arch support at all times for good foot & back health. :)

Linen is very comfortable.

I'd be very surprised if you'd receive entry at the entrance to the Waikiki Halekulani in flip-flops.

With the jury being out on how much sunscreen really is good for you, it's not at all imprudent to stick with slacks and long sleeves.

The upside being that you at least avoid any funky unintended tan lines that could keep you from working on your tan.
