What About VIDEO Ads ????

I continue to read posts on this site from clients that have been scammed, dupped, ripped off by escorts who have misrepresented themselves in one way or another, mostly by how they look. Although the escort had posted pics, and they say " a picture is worth 1000 words", in alot of cases it aint. The pics are either WAY old or of someone else entirely. I still dont understand how the escort thinks he can pull this off, but in alot of cases the client is closeted, or inexperienced, or just meek, and is intimidated so he ends up paying for services he didnt receive.

 

I was thinking: what about Video ads ? Its more real time, and less likely to be fake (although it CAN be). Do the escorts think its a good idea for sites like Rentboy or Rentmen in allow for Video ads to be posted? It just might instill a bit more confidence in the client, and eliminate those face-to-face horror stories we hear....

 

And what do the clients think about the idea ? If there are already sites that have this, please enlighten me.... thanks.

Rentmen does allow it's advertisers to post videos of themselves.. I think it's a great thing, I only wish more guys advertised there.

I looked at that site briefly and determined it was the "poor mans" version for Rentboy with fewer selections and decided to Pass.

As a client, I love video ads. In Argentina, the two main escorts websites include the option, ans many of the boys take advantage of it: http://www.soytuyo.com and http://www.revistaratones.com.

Like you, I wish more guys would advertise there. But currently you have to be a paying member to to view the videos, and I balk at that on a site that's selling/promoting paid services.

Damn those membership fees. They are often counter-productive but unavoidable on many sites if you want Full access. In this case if might be worth the investment ?

For me, it would only make sense if viewed as 'entertainment' fee, and in that context, there is more free stuff out there. Rentmen currently only has 4 listings for my entire STATE (it's been steadily declining) and only one of those (a visiting guy) has a video, which is free because it's a rentmen interview. And I rarely travel these days, so it doesn't make sense to pay for it as a hiring tool.

 

The rentmen site had a lot of promise but it seems not to have materialized. It needs a critical mass of listings and some real marketing/public awareness work to be viable, in my opinion. They need to figure out some way to break the chicken-egg problem - escorts drop off because they don't get business from it, and clients (like you) don't use it because there aren't enough escorts on it. Maybe if they gave escorts a free year and actively sought out escorts to join, and then did some internet advertising or maximized its presence in search results - but I think they have to get that critical mass of listings on the site first.

As far as I’m concerned the best assurance that the escorts I hire are going to look like and perform like their ads are recent reviews on this site. Video ads can be just a misleading as photographs. If I hire an escort without reviews I fully understand that my experience might or might not be so great. Under those circumstances I try to keep in mind that even the greatest escorts reviewed here had to have someone willing to take a chance with them at the beginning of their career. After hiring for approximately ten (10) years I find that I am hiring fewer and fewer new guy. I have developed a group of regulars who fulfill me needs. I do stray now and then and hire a new guy but sadly most of these new experiences have recently been mediocre.

As the volume of video ads starts tipping the availability scale we'll see plenty of fakes there just as we do with photos.

Epig, I will take issue with your comment here because I dont think there is ever any "assurance" of anything. Just because an escort performs well, or at least satisfactorily with one client, doesnt mean he will perform well with YOU, or even meet your expectations. Its basically all OPINION, and its up to you to discern if you value those opinions enuf to hire. Does not in any way mean you wont get Burned.....

Jj if we follow your logic to its natural conclusion then this site is worthless because all reviews apply only to the writer and have NO value for anybody else. If that is the case then why read them. I certainly agree that simply because a guy has a number of great reviews does NOT guarantee that every client who hires him will have the same experience. Frankly there are NO guarantees in this life regarding most things. I used the expression “best assurance” which is NOT the same as absolute assurance and I stand by it. I ALWAYS place the greatest value on those reviews written by clients who mirror me. A review written by a 25 year old client isn’t going to be very relevant for me at 70. I would certainly agree with you that that how clients respond to the escorts they hire is highly subjective. I have had a couple of mediocre experiences with well reviewed and highly regarded escorts. I have always attributed that to lack of chemistry between the two of us – it happens and it isn’t really the client’s or the escort’s fault. Feeling that way I didn’t write negative reviews.

A great review for an escort that doesnt appeal to me wont make me hire him. Its a combo of physical attraction and a good review, and LUCK.... So keep reading Guys, because I find alot of the reviews read like romance novels, and at the very least are entertaining.

This is getting pretty juvenile. There has never been truth in advertising. That's what advertising is all about . . . making the product look as appealing as possible. That's why we change brands so constantly; because the product isn't what it advertises itself to be. But when a product is as good as it's advertising . . . we buy it again.
