I will be in SF for the first time on Oct 19th and am looking for advice from the locals. Hotel in downtown near the gay area that is nice, but reasonable, things to see and do and of course escorts you might recommend who might want to several hours showing me the sights, both his and SF's. Thanks for the help

Union Square

Rick Munroe and Derek Ross both just stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Union Square. This is where I stayed in June. It is a very nice hotel, with a serviceable gym, and is centrally located with a number of place to eat nearby from breakfast diners to really great restaurants. Within a few blocks is the Muni Metro subway, which will take you directly to the Castro. As you get closer to downtown, towards the Civic Center area, the hotels there are not as nice as they are in the Union Square area. I would recommend Price Line and Hot Wire, especially for just one night.

As for escorts, you gave no indication of your preferences. I have clients who have hired Dex Dekker, I have never met him but we have spoken and he has very good reviews here and my client indicated satisfaction with him as a well hung total top. Several other clients have hired Lance Gear and Peter Reeg (sp?). Peter was just cover man for August. I have not met or spoken with either, but both are versatile, both have excellent reviews and both are very masculine and muscular.

If you want younger guys, there is one listed in Meet Local Men, Braeden Casey, who was hired by one of my clients from Palm Springs, who found him personable and pleasant. I have no idea what his sexual preferences are, though. There are any number of other escorts, from the usual standbys like Jake Walker, Devon and others, and really without indicating your preferences, your best bet is to read the San Francisco reviews and see who strikes you and appeals to you and find out if they are even available the one day you will be in San Francisco.

Good luck, dress warmly and enjoy my favorite American city on the planet.

Others in the Union Square area are the Westin, Hilton, and Nikko. Smaller ones are the Diva and Monaco, and lets not forget the redone Clift, an Ian Shrager makeover. Also in that area are the Parc 55, Marriott, and Stanford Court. Deals are abundant. Any on the above you are better off without a car-parking is almost as much as the room these days, an exageration, but not by much. Other areas with good hotels are the wharf and Lombard section west of VanNess, however you will find yourself spending half your time getting to where you want to go from either of these. Public transportation via Muni is pretty easy to use and should get you just about wherever you want to go from the Union Square area.

As far as helping with escorts you do need to make your likes and dislikes known. San Francisco, for the size of the gay population, is not as blessed as NYC or LA in the numbers of available escorts, however there seems to be at least one quality guy in most of the categories. You occasionally will find a porn star ad in the BAR, the guy being in town for a Falcon gig, but they seem to be flying them in and out faster than ever.

I've got clients who are getting INCREDIBLE deals on Priceline for San Francisco hotels right now: 3-star hotels for $40/night, and 4-star hotels for between $56-70/night. If you stay in either the Downtown zone, the SOMA (South of Market) zone or even the Financial Center/Embaradero Center zones you'll have easy access to the Castro (take a cab or Muni -- parking's next to impossible in the Castro and many other gay neighborhoods) and a wide array of great 4-star hotels. SOMA also has a number of gay dance clubs and bars (the bars generally cater to the leather persuasions). Franco's right about Civic Center -- the hotels there are not that great and it's skanky though centrally located -- but if I'm not mistaken on Priceline "Downtown" is what they call the Union Square area. (Tip for those hip to Priceline bidding: there are no 4-star hotels in Civic Center, so if you're set on getting a 4-star you can use Civic Center when you need to add a zone to rebid -- it's like getting a free bid in the zones you prefer.)

Um...thanks. At the moment, however, I'm trying to promote a SLIGHTLY more exciting image than that of "the usual standby." :7

Well, downtown is not near the "gay area." There are some pretty decent places south of market which are withing walking distance of some of the clubs, though. I HIGHLY recommend looking up some prices on http://www.hotwire.com. If the prices seem too high, THEN you can see if you can get a lower price on http://www.priceline.com

Yeah, I don't see you as standing. How about "the usual bend-him-over-and-stick-it-in-while-you-reach-under-and-twist-his-tits-real-hard-by"? :p

There is the resort community with the gorgeous view of the rings of Saturn and the lesbian colony on Venus, but yes, as far as this planet goes, San Francisco is my favorite American city...
