Rules of Life

Over the years, I've adopted a few basic rules that guide me through my life. I'm wondering what rule(s) you may have learned in life and would like to share...

 

Here's one of mine

 

You can't teach a dog new tricks BUT you can teach them

 

Researchers at Stanford once did an experiment where they took 400 individuals and told them to jump through a flaming hoop of fire. None of the individuals did it. The researchers then doused the flames and asked them to jump through the hoop but still they all refused. The researchers then set a lion loose in the room and the volunteers shot through the hoop at amazing speeds.

 

So if you're having trouble teaching a dog new tricks, remember you can teach them if you do it right.

The one rule of life that I am probably obsessive about is don't keep others waiting. I don't mind being the one to wait for others, but if I can be reliable to be on time, it allows everyone to plan accordingly.

One that was brought home to me was to be nice to everyone because you never can tell someone will pop back up in your life. And when they pop back up you may need to ask a favor from them.

 

If you're 10 minutes early to an event you're 20 minutes late.

 

And to always try to tell the truth. That way you don't have to try to remember what lie you've told.

Pay my bills the day I receive them.

 

The people who provided the goods or service to me did so in a timely manner. It's only right that they be paid in the same timely manner. This gives me the reputation of being a good customer.

 

Unfortunately, the real reason I do this is because, due to a head injury when I was 18, I have a terrible memory and would probably forget to pay the bills if I left them for a later time.
