Before I hijacked another thread, I was checking parameters of the post, ie. what qualifies as a soap, ie. does it have to be on 52-weeks-a-year, or can I get away with a seasonal series, such as The Vampire Diaries? (OK, OK, I hear y'all, you're insisting that Stephen R. McQueen is officially categorised as a Fetish).

 

I'm not expecting you to help out here Glutes, as we all know you're a complete stranger to soap.

Was the show Dark Shadows considered a soap? I was a little kid and I always remember that the show scared me a bit...

 

Otherwise, I have not seen any soaps for some time as I do not watch TV, and I am always busy with work when they would come on.

First of all thank you for doing a soap thread. The soaps have given us some of the hottest men ever. Ten years ago, I think soaps were at their heyday of hunkdom. Roughly 1998-2002 was the Golden Age of Soap Hunks. There were a lot of hotties on soaps then, all at their prime, and some who went on to greater fame -

 

Cameron Mathison and Josh Duhamel on All My Children,

Paul Leyden, Grayson McCouch, and Paul Korver on As the World Turns,

Jason-Shane Scott and David Fumero on One Life to Live,

Jordi Vilasuso on Guiding Light,

Timothy Adams, Eddie Cibrian, and Nick Stabile on Sunset Beach,

Jensen Ackles, Matt Cedeno, Austin Peck, and Victor Webster on Days of Our Lives,

Galen Gering and Jesse Metcalfe on Passions;

and Shemar Moore and Joshua Morrow on The Young and the Restless.

 

Now there are only six soaps on the air. By this time next year there will be four, and I predict than in five years we'll have one or two. The medium is dying.

 

So if you mean any soap hunks at all from the past, my top two choices would be:

"Victor Webster" definitely gets my Vote Top or Bottom! The original Armani Model just gets Hunkier with Age! His time on Sex & The City as the Hunky neighbor was entertaining.

 

"Dark Shadows" most definitely was a SOAP OPERA! Branabus Collins was one of the creepiest Characters going at the time!
