Elizabeth Taylor passed away today. Taylor was one of the brightest stars in Hollywood history and one of the most revered screen legends of the 20th Century. She starred in such films as Cleopatra (1963) and won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Butterfield 8 (1960) and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966). Taylor was also a staunch supporter of the LGBT community and a game changer in the crusade against HIV and AIDS. Thank you and May You Rest in Peace, Dame Elizabeth.

A sad day. Liz Taylor was gorgeous, fierce, an amazing actress and avid AIDS fundraiser. I especially loved her portrayal of Kate in "Taming of the Shrew."

What was your favorite Liz Taylor movie?

She was probably, as far as I'm concerned, the most gorgeous woman of my life time. She was absolutely breath taking in Giant and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Her charitable work was frequently unheralded but it was as amazing as her physical beauty. SHE WAS UNIQUE.

This is indeed a sad day. I can still vividly remember seeing Dame Elizabeth in films such as Suddenly Last Summer, Giant, Who's Afraqid Of Virginia Wolf and of course A Place In The Sun, just to mention a few of her outstanding contributions to the cinema. However, as much as I remember her for her film career, I also rembemer her as an early champion in the fight against AIDS and as a friend of our community.

I remember seeing MS. Taylor in Cleopatra in Cinemascope and having my straight friends remark about how large her bosoms were in this movie. :) I only reacted to her talent and she had plenty. Unfortunately, I also go back to National Velvet. She was a huge presence in the national spotlight and, of course, Hollywood. I also think she believed personally in one of her movie role quotes, I will try anything once. Something many of the rest of us subscibe to.

Best regards,

KMEM

When others sat by silently, Elizabeth Taylor spoke out publicly, fiercely demanding attention for AIDS research and care for those living with the disease. She was a champion for this when she could have lived quietly out of the spotlight. She spoke before Congress, she was the main speaker at large rallies and she hugged and kissed AIDs sufferers when many would refuse to be in the same room. A great actress, certainly, but so much greater a fighter and advocate.

Talented - Tormented - Fiercely Loyal - An Amazing "STAR" - An Incredible Advocate for those who had no

voice, during a time - when those in power thought and said "All the right people get AIDS"

(Strom Thurmond or Jesse Helms - They are interchangable)

= Gays, Drug Users, Haatians.

Rest In Peace White Diamond - Hollywood lost its sparkle with your passing.

When Dame Taylor stood up for her friend, Rock Hudson, most Americans didn't even know what AIDS was and thought you could catch it if you touched the same things. She brought knowledge & help to treat HIV to so many, in addition to everything else that was wonderful about her. She is a legendary humanitarian that will never be forgotten.

This just gives me the sads. :(

I'd been following her health issues of late and had a feeling this was going to be the end.

What an incredible woman.

Rest in Peace Liz.

I hope she's sharing a drink with Burton and reminiscing over old times together. Another part of the glamour days of Hollywood has vanished. RIP Elizabeth.

A voice for the silent and unrepresented... gave and spoke up as a global presence... The Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation:http://www.elizabethtayloraidsfoundation.org

Family is asking that contributions go to the ETAF org... ( http://www.cnn.com/2011/SHOWBIZ/03/23/elizabeth.taylor.reaction ),

"At the time of her death, Taylor was surrounded by her children: Michael Wilding Jr., Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton, the statement said. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A private family funeral will be held later, publicist Sally Morrison said in a news release. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that contributions be made to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. A tribute page was set up on Facebook for fans wishing to send personal messages, the release said.

"It is respectfully asked that the public allow the family privacy at this difficult time," it said. "Details of a memorial service will be announced at a later date."

Taylor, who was made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000, "was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor and love," her son, Michael Wilding Jr., said in the release issued by her publicist. "Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world.

"Her remarkable body of work in film, her ongoing success as a businesswoman and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished," said the son, whom Taylor bore by her second husband, Michael Wilding.

"We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts," the son added.

Gonna miss you Dame Taylor~ Hope we can find some friends to continue where you left off. Anyone out there willing to do something with me? HIV and AIDS is a global threat. We can make a difference together~! I would like to plan a trip or work with an educational program in Kenya to work at a medical facility there. Kenya is home to one of the world’s harshest HIV and AIDS epidemics. An estimated 1.5 million people are living with HIV; around 1.2 million children have been orphaned by AIDS; and in 2009 80,000 people died from AIDS related illnesses. At least Liz Taylor had the fortune to know that Debbie Reynolds forgave her for nicking her husband Eddie Fisher who in turn got dumped for that bloody Welsh drunk, Richard Burton. Then the poor sod married the same drunk years later. In the next world, Liz and King Henry 8 have plenty to talk about.

She was great person, as a man, as an actress. It's sad when such a news coming.

Rest in peace Elizabeth.
