20 Club or LeBoyz:

Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday and I'm trying to decide which strip club to attend and view the game.

Both clubs are in easy to get to locations

Both will be showing the game

Both will have a good lineup of dancers

Both have 2-4-1 drink special

Both offer $20 lap dances

Both have champagne rooms

Both have similar hours of operation

Both are well maintained and comfortable

However:

There is no announcement about anything special going on at the 20C...

LeBoyz on the other hand has posted about an early bird FREE admission with an email or text, while the 20C has a $10 cover till 7pm then $20 after...

LeBoyz has advertised a FREE buffet. 20C nothing...

LeBoyz manager knows me and my friends by our first names. 20C thinks I'm "daddy":D

My friends and I enjoy the company of the people who work and dance at both clubs. The choice might sound obvious but I'm still undecided.

Help!

Well Cooper you are correct, However in past years the only one at 20 that cared about the game was the GM. Based on that we here at LeBoyz will present the game in all its splender BUT the real show will be all about the performers. We have some Extra Special Treats for all but (DUE TO SOME COPYCAT CLUBS THAT CAN'T BE ORIGINAL)

We choose to surprize everyone that attends. ALSO LeBoyz Entertains you from 5pm to 5am (12 HOURS) if you choose to stay. "We give you more bang for your buck!"

Our 2-4-1 Drink Specials are from 5P-8P 3 HOURS & Not just a Buffet like other clubs...This One is CATERED not COSTCO!

With close to 30 performers, An All Gay Staff & Mgnt, and a staff that listens & cares LeBoyz Welcomes You To Join Our Super Super Super Bowl Bash

where you don't necessarily need to love Football to enjoy this party... WE ARE LEBOYZ Check us out on the web www.leboyz.com (212) 714-7000

Gay Men Watch Football even at strip clubs

DJ AMG "However in past years the only one at 20 that cared about the game was the GM."

DJ, remember Super Bowl 2008? I do...

I recall being at the 20C in 2008 when everyone was watching the Giant/Patriot game. There were 2 dancers on stage, Blaze and Costa, they were putting on a rather erotic stage show, sadly, everyone had their backs to them as the TV's were located on the opposite wall... It was a great game as the Giants won, pulling off one of the biggest Super Bowl upsets. So, yes, gay men do watch the game as well as the dancers.

Thanks DJ AMG and Club 20 NYC

Out to both the 20 Club and LeBoyz... thanks for posting information on your Super Bowl Sunday parties. It's much appreciated and helpful.

It's going to be a super bowl nice day in NYC and I'm looking forward to the festivities.

Thanks DJ AMG for sending out the free admission passes and thanks (and welcome to our forum) Club 20 NYC for posting pictures of some amazing hunks who will be gracing your stage tonight.

Wishing you both a successful and exciting Super Bowl night.

My decision of which club to attend last night, 20Club or LeBoyz was made for me by the helpful folks at the New York City MTA - who decided that all E trains would run on the F line all weekend, resulting in me going to Club20, which is a few blocks from the F at 23rd Street. That said, I noticed that there were fewer dancers there than in the past, perhaps as a result of LeBoyz competing for dancers on Sunday nights or many decided to attend their own Superbowl parties instead of working. Unfortunately, I saw only one of the dancers that were touted in the post above to be there - i.e. Igor / Drago from Moscow. I can't blame the poster for no-show dancers...but it makes me appreciate the good old days at the Gaiety, where you knew which dancers would be there for the week...I'm sure Denise ran a tight ship.

COOPER,

Hats OFF to you for remembering who was on stage at Club20 during the 2008 Superbowl...IMPRESSIVE !

lol... thanks Brett... Funny thing took place last night at LeBoyz.... Ryan/Blaze who was on stage during the 2008 Super Bowl game was working at LeBoyz and the manager read my post. As a surprise for me he tried to get Costa to also join the lineup but, unfortunately, he wasn't available. Now that would have been very "impressive"... It was extremely thoughtful of the manager to try to arrange that re-union.

Super Bowl at LeBoyz and 20Club

20 Club or LeBoyz:

Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday and I'm trying to decide which strip club to attend and view the game. My friends and I enjoy the company of the people who work and dance at both clubs. The choice might sound obvious but I'm still undecided.

The decision was easy, I attended both...

Traditionally, Super Bowl Sundays have been slow at the strip clubs, so, I wasn't expecting many patrons or dancers.

My first stop was LeBoyz... There was no cover charge to get in as the club had sent out free admission text messages to it's members...

It was early when my friends and I arrived but the Super Bowl festivities were already under way. Most of the dancers were there and ready to take to the stage... As advertised, there was a "hot buffet" consisting of pasta, salad, fish strips, chicken nuggets, bread, and snacks. It was all very good... The manager/promoter, Tony, gave us all a warm greeting and ordered a round of complementary drinks for all, including the dancers, (including the dancers was extremely thoughtful on his part and shows how the club values and appreciate those who work there).

In addition to the free admission, free coat check, free "hot buffet", complimentary drinks, Tony gave all of us a ticket for a free lap dance. In my entire life of attending clubs, I've never been treated in such a kind and caring way. This was customer appreciation at it's best and I am truly appreciative.

The lineup of dancers ranged from twinks to muscle and, quickly, each of us paired up with a dancer of our choosing... The lap dance area is off to the rear of the club and is private and very comfortable.

LeBoyz is a well run and managed club. They have many special events planned. For their Sunday, Feb 27th party, Ralph Woods, Bel Ami and international porn star, will be making an appearance. Many of us know Ralph from clubs in Montreal. It should be a fun night.

This was only the 2nd Sunday event at LeBoyz and already they've established themselves as a club to be reckoned with... I wish them continued success with both their Wednesday and Sunday parties.

Super Bowl Sunday at the 20 Club

After spending a couple of hours at LeBoyz, my friends and I moved on to the 20 Club. We were greeted by Eddie, the new doorman... Since we arrived after 7pm, the cover had gone up to $20 but the manager, Joe, let us all in for the early bird rate of $10. There was also a coat check fee of $3.00.

Although all the TV's were airing the Super Bowl, there was nothing special planned. Ace, a popular bar waiter at the club, immediately greeted us and escorted us to our seats. Although the 2-4-1 happy hour was over, we still got our drinks at the happy hour rate.

I was told there were about 20 dancers working. Many I had recognized from previous Sundays. There was a good range in body types and a few new faces. The dancers were friendly and non-pushy. The lap dance area is located on the right side of the club and it was somewhat busy most of the night.

There have been some changes at the 20 Club. Tim, manager at the Adonis Lounge, is now booking the dancers at the 20C. He was very enthusiastic about his new position as was eager to hear from us as to the type of guys we'd like to see in the lineup. Tim is well liked and should do a great job in booking some new talent and getting some headliners into the club. I'm looking forward to seeing some changes. Tim gave all of us free admission passes for our next visit.

Ed, who's the host at the 20C, spent time talking with us about some new ideas for the club and gave us a tour of the new club "Back Door". It's going to be a Monday-Saturday male strip club, it's inside the 20C, but you'll enter on 19th St. The "Back Door" is just about completed and looking to open in about 2 months.

One of the suggestions we made to Ed and Tim was to get a website started for the 20 Club. The club has been open for over 5 years and it's time to create a site to list info on the club and pictures of the dancers. In addition, we mentioned that the club needs to have some featured dancers to attract more customers.

In conclusion, I enjoyed myself at both clubs. Felt the management was attentive to the needs of the customers and willing to do more to keep us coming back week after week. Both clubs had a nice mix of dancers.

Another Choice for Valentine's Day!

For those living out on Long Island, you have yet another choice for some male entertainment this Sunday.

Btw, do we have any members living on LI who attend strip clubs? If so, why not post a review on this event...

If everything in Leboyz - including even the lap dances - was free, how do they make any money?

12is12... First off, everything is not free... If you're interested in attending, I'd suggest you sign up for your VIP admission at http://www.leboyz.com. When you do, you'll recieve a text or email message giving you free admission before 6pm. After that, there's a cover... On Sundays, LeBoyz offers a free hot buffet, along with 2-4-1 drink specials... As for a free lap dance ticket, I did receive one, however, I don't limit myself to 1 dance, therefore, the dancers make money from the extra dances I do... Strip clubs in general make money from the door, bar, dancer fees, coat check, and use of the champagne rooms. It's up to the manager if he wants to comp anything.

Hope this helps and enjoy your visit to LeBoyz.

The competition is getting interesting. A student of marketing might get a good paper out of this clash.

LaBoyz stated goal, here and in speaking to them, is to crate a lower priced, gay managed alternative to Club 20, and they may have succeeded. I attended both last Sunday and the differences were striking.

I descended the stairs at LaBoyz to be greeted by the convivial Charlie who took my reasonable fee and coat check (actually the same as Club 20). I entered the low ceiling rather dark room and met a few of the dancers some of whom I knew well from Club 20. I had a lap dance (actually a double lap dance with two dancers - what the hell) to whom I paid the customary $20 each - same as Club 20). The Champagne Room fee at LaBoyz is reportedly significantly lower (maybe $125 vs $160/180 - I'm a not regular at this activity). I had a good time.

At Club 20 I climbed a few stairs to be greeted by a young doorman (wearing a bow tie that did not appear to be part of a costume mind you) and paid my fee and coat check to the young man usually on the desk. Gone was the guy who once took the door charge if you interrupted him from watching the football game. I entered the two storied theater, with its certain faded charm, as was greeted warming by those on the staff who know me. I paid the same amount in each place for the same service.

The difference for me was in the ambiance: the LaBoyz experience was on the cusp of being real sleazy. The Club 20 experience was more an erotic romp.

I think the LaBoyz folks have responded to what was a legitimate grievance against the Club 20 management: they were not very gay friendly. The problem maybe that the Club 20 folks have woken up to the fact that there is a gay market that will be loyal if they are treated with deference. Taking the opportunity arising from the departure of some of its staff to LaBoyz, they installed Tim whose success at establishing the Adonis Lounge has been well recorded here. Senior staff at Club 20 may not be gay but they've actively solicited input from posse members here on how to make the Club better.

As of last Sunday at least, the clear winner was Club 20: it was packed, the 3/4's of the club chairs filled and the bar area hard to maneuver through. I've seen the lap dance area busier on other occasions but it was still active. The place was alive. LaBoyz, alas, was not. There was nearly no one on the white sofas, same at the bar tables. The bar was active but you could get through easily. The dancers was as expected. The lap dance area was active but not overly so.

As to which of the tow you might enjoy more, I'd suggest that if you're more the closeted raincoat in the lap sort, LaBoyz may be more your style. If you're out of your closet and would prefer a evening or erotic entertainment of a classier sort, Club 20 is the place for you. If, like me, you're still seeking your inner slut, attending both is necessary.

My description of LaBoys as borderline sleazy is not meant derogatorily: in truth, the Gaiety (of blessed memory) was in fact rather sleazy. I wish the best for both organizations. Their competition makes the market better for all of us. I just fear that the LaBoyz folks have both misread the market and mistimed their departure from Club 20. Time and the marketplace will tell.

First of all g56whiz We total beg to differ, To start it's LeBoyz NOT laboyz and We (Tony, Joe, George, Charlie and 2 more players to be named real soon!) left for a reasons...Six years was 5 1/2 years too long..Mistimed no we totally beg to differ timing was the best…you will see…. LeBoyz clocked 104 Guests Paid thru the door Sunday so don't know when you were there but seems like you missed the party. We had a very nice group that seems to be building and dancers know that that is why we clocked 28 dancers compared to the 22 at club 20. The BIG crowd at 20 was mostly not there to have boys they were there to drink as an alternative to Boxers..Trust me I know since boxers opened that’s what 20 turned into a place to come after and drink while dancers begged customers to hardly no result. If your serious and come to LeBoyz then you know what you want, we designed the club with the customer in mind and yet as we must make a profit to continue to survive we are interested in the long term and not the quick buck. We fought for many years while working there at 20 with mgnt about doing things to promote and make it better for customers but they simply would not give us the time of day. After a while you become numb and give up...We 1 year ago started to make our departure plans and design what now is LeBoyz, Before you can comment you must know the inside dirt that has brought us to this point in time. No one at 20 cared about pleasing anyone until the little engine that they thought couldn't COULD! And now they are in panic mode... (Sorry folks those are the facts!) I can’t stand by and read this stuff anymore without commenting. Adonis was created by Tim with his partner JOE B from 20 who was thrown from the train once the train was moving...Tim was fired from 20 for illegal activity NEVER EVER to be allowed in the doors again! Quoted from ED the MGR Now look what has happened in a scramble to recover look who they hired??? There is more but you will have to wait for the book. But please understand LeBoyz is 18 weeks old and already running and acting like a competitor we just started Sundays 3 weeks ago...against a 6 year old club that should be setting the pace for all others instead the folks at 20 along with Tim are copying all our promotions and ideas..Now ask yourself a question who do you think knows a lil more about club management??? Make your own decision please come experience what should have been in the first place LeBoyz your Wednesday & Sunday Alternative!

You need not beg to differ DJ AMG: your right to your opinion is as valid as mine is to mine.

My observation remains: that LeBoyz appears to be offering a downscale entertainment while Club 20 seems to be moving upscale with both clubs at a similar price point (save perhaps for champagne room charges). And based on a single comparison admittedly early last Sunday night (7 to 8 an Club 20 and 8 to 9 at LeBoyz), Club 20 was in the lead.

Your animus torward your former employer, Tim's history, Club 20's proximity to Boxers are may or may bot be the causes of what I saw but are irrelevant to that observation per se. And I absolutely do NOT need to know any dirt about any one. As for your book, I'd rather spend the time (and money) with a sexy dancer in my lap: I won't be reading it. I'm there to enjoy what each club has to offer and I do! I suspect the rest of the marketplace will act similarily. Unless you're willing to substantiate at claim that attending Club 20 is potentially harmful to ones health or finances, dirt if there is any is best left under its frayed rug.

Moreover, you need not go on about your long and often fruitless struggles with the meathead who seems to own Club 20. You're preaching to the choir. I and many other members of this forum were doing the same in person and in print here. We fully appreciate what you went through and are even grateful. But as you all to well know, it took Club 20 management far too long to understand that there was a reliable gay market for the entertainment they were offering and that getting over their innate homophobia could be quite profitable. My point with respect to timing is that they seem to have finally got it, really really got it and that was just about the time you and your team left. If you expect abject loyality for what you endured there, I regret to inform you that the marketplace doesn't really work that way. It can be cruel. To selfish me (and I suspect others), the only relavant part of your sad story is what you have learned and can apply at LeBoyz to make it the sort of entertainment that will attract a crowd. And understand that the marketplace will be holding Tim and the Club 20 management to the same standard.

Whether 20 or 200 hundred dancers are offered at LeBoyz or Club 20 is irrelevant. Both clubs are (or should be) in business to provide a specialized form of entertainment for a partucular segment of the gay community. Dancers are a necessary component of that entertainment you are offering but employing them is not the reason you are in business. We, your clients, are. If Tim can make it worthwhile for only 15 dancers (provided it's the right mix for his client base) so be it. If you need 30 or 50 for your clients, again so be it. The marketplace can be so cruel.

Similarly, gratuitous attacks on Tim's past can blur your vision of what you need to accomplish at LeBoyz to make it succeed. The only part of his past that should have any meaning to you is the successful operation he established in Brooklyn with or with out help. It may foretell what he can accomplish at Club 20, Don't let the fact that you are only now getting (or rather taking) a similar opportunity divert your focus from establishing LeBoyz as an entertainment destination the marketplace wants. LeBoyz will succeed or fail not on what happened in the past at Club 20 but on what it offers now and can do tomorrow.

As you point out, things appear to be headed in the right direction at LeBoyz. And if Club 20 settles on a different tack, so be it. Copying one another is not a good tactic for success for either enterprise. Location is (or should be) a key variant in your differing business models. But the marketplace will determine who's right unless, that is, it determines that you are both right and rewards you both for your divergent offerings. The marketplace can be so fickle.

Oh and I took you advice. Although the vehemence of your response made me wonder if I would be welcome there, I had a great time at LeBoyz last night.

Strip Clubs, the do's and don'ts

You need not beg to differ DJ AMG: your right to your opinion is as valid as mine is to mine.

Gwhiz, thanks for your observations and assements of NYC's 2 strip clubs. We all enjoy hearing different points of views and all are welcome.

There are a few things that are important to me when attending a strip club and among these are: location, lineup, friendliness of management, treatment of and listening to customers, costs, safety, cleanliness, etc. I attend to have a good time.

What I'm not looking for is back stabbing, hearing management/dancers complaining, using this message board for your own personal agenda, and personal attacks on individuals whom I like. All this has nothing to do with me having a good time. In fact, when you attack another club or employee, it's a turn off and I don't want to be party to it. Imo, it does the clubs more harm than good.

What I would like to see is strip clubs operating 7 days a week. ;)

Good competition

Good competition can only help each club to improve on their services and offerings. Hopefully, the only thing arising from this competition for the consumer are vibrant, well-stocked and busy venues for this form of entertainment. Keep up the great job everyone - Adonis, Club 20, LeBoyz :) There is certainly enough business to go around, especially in a place like nyc.

Bravo, Cooper. I totally agree with your comments. I'm there for a good time and not to participate in inter-club rivalry. Airing these grevances on this forum is a total turnoff and a bit snarky.

THANK YOU COOPER! Well said! I couldn't agree with you more. One of my big turn-offs is hearing from the dancers how much they're NOT making. It certainly doesn't make me want to change that! And yes I too hope the personal attacks (which seem rather one-sided these days) would stop. It serves no one! Each club has it's pros and cons, and let the consumer decide what they prefer. There's enough of us to go around, and certainly enough talent to fill these stages and more!

Just want to add how much I appreciate your diligence in maintaining this board. it's a great resource and you are a great help to all of us!
