Thanks to those who have responded with suggestions and constructive criticism. I was not trying to pose a hamlet dilemma about coming back. I am happy to come back. What I had hoped to do was resolve once and for all the question of being a moderator. Once that was decided to my satisfaction, then I felt that I was in a position to return.

I had asked Daddy to take me off of moderator status as the Arts Forum requires so little moderation. I announce my retirement as a moderator but it was ignored since I am still listed as one. What I learned was that being a moderator only meant that any problems I found I would turn over to deej, and he would decide the result. I hardly felt that I need to involve myself in that since deej was perfectly capable of doing that himself without my assistance. Once daddy removes me from the moderator position, then I can go back to being Lucky without being a part of the "administration." If he doesn't remove me, then I can return and just not moderate, but I would prefer that my request be honored.

It was not a mistake to consider returning.

 

If one person is "nasty" (as you say), there are many more who are not nasty.

 

I think this forum is better with you as a contributing member.

 

Several people (including you) have been nasty to me in the past but I am still here.

 

One should take the "long view" and realize the forum is what is it. It is an interesting place that contains a major cross section of various participants. Some get along, some do not. Some are smart and some, unfortunately, are dumb. And, there are those in between. It is that simple.

 

Regardless of any recent negative comment made by someone else about you, I would like to see you return. You do, every now and again, offer some very interesting topics and thoughts.

We defend because we do not see a grievance for which you continually follow around Lucky making snide remarks. If there is an offense which you believe he needs defend himself from.... Fine...... please let us know and air the dirty laundry.

 

NYT, just to be clear. This notion that I or anyone else "follows lucky" around this forum, constantly making snide remarks about him is utter nonsense and some strange paranoia Lucky uses when he is called out on something which he has stated.

 

You'll be hard pressed to find a small handful of posts which I have written here that even mention Lucky by name let alone association.

 

Lucky has little of anything to say that interests me and that's just fine. However, when he does stick his foot in his mouth he really shouldn't whale and whine like a small child - which he does at almost the drop of a hat when someone calls him out on it.

 

Again, you'll find very few posts here from me about Lucky.

Lucky's split personality on this board is a decade old. He's always been able to dish out digs and criticism but, sadly, he often can't take the same back. He told me long ago to stop taking this board so seriously and, after being banned twice, I finally found the wisdom in his elder advice. Too bad he can't practice what he preached. A year off from this place can do wonders for a Queen.

He's given many of us good advice and suggestions for things to do and places to go. Whether you agree with him or not, he's spoken his mind on issues and stood up for what he believes in. His posts were always one of the first I'd read.

 

I've enjoyed reading his book, movie, and theater reviews. I've followed many of his travels through his posts. I appreciated all he did to bring the men from Hooville together whether it be in NYC or Palm Springs. He truly enjoyed posting and sharing his experiences. Those of us who have had the pleasure of meeting him know that he's very bright and articulate, he's one of the good guys and very supportive/loyal to his friends.

 

I'm very sorry to read that Lucky is moving on. I will miss reading his posts, however, we will continue to keep in touch and meet up on his NYC/Mtl trips. I wish my dear friend all the best and thank him again for his commitment to this site.

I somewhat agree with you here. As I have said earlier, he has, on occasion, attacked me without good cause. He can be caustic at times but at other times he can be quite charming, informative and witty.

 

Notwithstanding his occasional nastiness, I believe Lucky’s contributions to this site have enriched the site far more than it was harmed by his presence. Without further posts from Lucky, this site will survive but will be lacking Lucky’s unique style that makes the site interesting for so many readers.

Seems like the first time I remember was about 6 years ago and I think was a possible moderator meltdown that caused the closure. Maybe some of the "oldtimers" can remember for sure.

However, the original poster said that "For the past three years, this part of the website has been shut down - - - ."

 

That wording means the message center is currently closed (but it is not closed or "shut down" to use the language of the original poster).

I think this thread has seen enough fighting, harsh words and mud slinging. I vote to close this one down and be done with it. I have been tracking this thread for quite some time now and each time, it just gets uglier and I've held my tongue long enough...

 

Regardless of what people's opinions are about Lucky, he's a good man and I can say that because I've met him before and had wonderful conversation with him. I wish you ALL THE BEST Lucky and hope that you keep in touch as you have many friends on this forum that care for you and respect all that you have contributed to this forum for quite some time. You have a long and rich history here and that will never be forgotten.

I am now reminded of a wise client I once had who said, "When the horse is dead, it is time to get off." and that about sums up the current status of this thread.
