Changed the way I enter the site -- they did something to add some new graphics and even have a copyright sign now -- so I had to just cancel my previous "favorite" log-on and use the new one. Seems they also have something on the site that goes into Facebook too.

True, but what is better out there? For US it is RENTBOY or M4RNow which is worse, or you pay through the nose for something. RENTMEN has a lot of promise but limited escorts. If tyhey had a wider escort base, I would just use them. Love the videos.

Looks like Rentboy has revised its look. And the first use results in a "it sucks" rating.

 

The search results have a slightly different layout. It's annoying at first use. You cannot do a CNTRL Click to open in a new tab. If you click on an ad and then return to the search results it takes you to the first page of your search not to the page you were on. If you right click and select open in a new tab then it will open in a new tab and not take you back to page 1 of the search results. The old way was a lot easier.

DBD - noticed that too but then I noticed that when you click on a guy's ad, to go back to the page you were on, you have to click a button above his ad in the CENTER (there are 3 new buttons there - forward, back and center.)

 

Asswipe who designed this upgrade should have also gone to school on how to do things clearly or at least printed an announcement on what all the new buttons are for. Not at all user friendly, but hey, they just want the money.

They are really fucking up the launch of this new rev of the site. At the moment, keying 'www.rentboy.com' into my browsers gives this error message:

Rentboy and most other listing sites shoot themselves in the foot by just plain over-trashing their site design. Gadgets and gizmos all over the damned place and not only is it ugly as hell, it slows down a computer, a search process and is a pain in my padded ass. KEEP IT SIMPLE. How tough is that?

 

That's why hooboy and daddy's sites have done so well in my opinion, as they keep it simple, easy to navigate and don't focus on silly, useless crap.

Truer word was never spoken. Many big industrial users of software have a policy of staying 1 or 2 revisions behind the current one, to give the sw company time to put out patches and fixes that finally (6 to 12 months after first release) make it stable and usable.

The problem I have is that if you are on any page after page 1 and you highlight an escort's profile, when you go back the site keeps bringing you right back to page 1 no matter what page you were on!!! Very annoying

I think there's a way to go back to the page you were looking at after clicking on an ad. There 's a little symbol at the top of the page in between previous and next. It' s not labelled, and I don't know how the idiot designer thought you would know this. I found it by trial and error.

Before one could do a search under the "advanced search" option... now even that is fuc...ed up. Geez the entire system is crap.

 

RENTBOY people, you need to figure out who your audience is: a) rentboys, escorts etc... many who are using English as a second language... do you expect THEM to figure this out? Even if they are computer wizzes, which they are not!

 

b) we clients of an older age who are computer literate but cannot figure our your new web design as it is impossible to understand! Nothing works the way it did. I wonder if you geniuses can even work your way around it?

 

c) escorts and clients who are NOT computer literate but can at least surf -- for them, the new RENTBOY is absolutely NOT user friendly.

Rentboy always has new release problems

 

I think they junked one new release a few years ago because it was so buggy. This time, they installed the new release at the time of year when the web is filled with trojans, malware, etc. (Ides of March), which probably speaks to their crappy tech acumen. Adult sites always get infected with this stuff and I suspect that was one reason they were down. Other than the new graphics, it's no improvement over the old version.

The "upgrade" is terrible... slow, complicated, not user friendly, etc. How do we get the word to RB, or are they so caught up in the farce of their HOOKIES that they have forgotten their client base... ? I clients stop using RB, and I am sure their use is going to go down, the guys who pay to advertize there will go elsewhere too... never was an "upgrade" so badly named... who ever came up with the specifications for this, or their programmer needs to get fired and some one needs to fix the site.

The reply I received told me that my problems were probably due to my use of an incompatible brower (safari, or aol were named), or that I was using Apple computer. I was infuriated by the response. This is what they call "support"?

 

I wrote back and explained that I have a 1 year old PC with a state of the art processor and a boatload of memory, and am running the most current version of Internet Explorer. If it does not work for me, I cannot imagine who it does work for.

 

I have written to the 4 escorts whose services I use most frequently, and advised them that I can no longer stand the frustration of using rentboy, and if they want me to be able to keep track of them they will have to send me email, or post on rentmen which is certainly the most user friendly site.

 

I would suggest that others who frequent this forum do the same.

I too have a brand new computer, tremendous memory and speed - and the damn RENTBOY site is slow, confusing, and keeps closing down. Worse, the entire "Advanced Search" program that used to be located on members' pages, now no longer works. To do any kind of search you have to log on to a city - but hey, you cannot save things unless you log on with your member's page... but then, if you log on it does not work.... see where I am going?

 

And many of the original advanced search options no longer are available on the extra slow and bad new form they use.

 

YES, definately time to push more advertising and escorts to the more user friendly (and all around better) site of RENTMEN.
