Well, I guess I'm bragging here a little - which I don't generally do, but a guy I met this evening, younger than I and good looking, told me how hot I looked. He commented positively on our conversation AND my body (a first for me).

I've been working very hard since I started a new nutrition/fitness lifestyle on March 26. I lost nearly 30lbs, and with the help of some supplements and added protein, have added back 7lbs of good weight. I'm defined and never looked better. I'm working out (weights or cardio) at least 5x/week, often 6. I've learned to cook for myself and really enjoy the food I'm eating. Working from home has really helped in this effort. Suddenly, everyone who knows me is commenting - and I don't feel embarrassed to walk along the beach anymore (I'm employing the wiser use of sunless tanning lotion instead of my first stupid idea of a tanning salon).

Best of all - I'm now getting more dates than I know what to do with - and my biggest problem is sorting that out.

I'm living proof that if I can do it, anyone can. I'm 37 yrs old and feel fantastic. I'm elated.

Some books I've already read to help me start this new life:

Dr. Bob Arnot's Revolutionary Weight Control Program

"The Healthy Kitchen" by Dr. Andrew Weil and Rosie Daley

I didn't have a digital camera a few months ago when I started this journey, so no "before" pics - but I have some good "after" shots and would be happy to share those if anyone wants to email me. Nothing nude, of course.

I apologize for rambling and the self-centered nature of this message, but what I really wanted to do was share something positive with the hope that others can do something similar if they want. It wasn't nearly as difficult as I had thought it would be. At 5'7.5" tall, I weighed 169lbs at my heaviest. I'm now down to 138 (I had lost a little through starvation before I embarked on this much better program).

I haven't followed anyone's "diet" or program to the letter, but rather took bits and pieces from books, a nutritionist I hired for consultation, and briefly - a personal trainer. From these I tailored my own program to best fit my lifestyle, schedule, and dietary likes. I wish anyone who would like to do something similar my best wishes for success - and to let you know you're not alone. Before this, I was completely invisible. Mr. Cellophane.

Now, if I could just give up that one last cigarette per week...

chrismac, bravo on the weight loss and yes you are blowing your own horn but I would too, and will, here is my story. Found myself in the same perdicament as you being very overweight last year when I decided to try to look better for the escorts I was hiring and maybe be able to pick someone in the bars, I am bi/married. Did not find a certain book or diet, but my main focus was eating right and at the right times. Sugarbusters and a few carb books put me on the right track! Breakfast should and will always be my main meal to get my metabolism going, watch my carbs during the day, and try not to eat ANYTHING after 6PM, except a juicy cock of course. Did also use a personnel trainer also at first to show me what to do, a gay one of course and WOOF!!! I am 53, 6" and started at 273# and am now at 195# and couldn't look or feel better. I have always been lucky to look younger than my age but now most people think I look in my early 40's now after my weight loss. In fact a real goodlooking masculine gentleman pick me up yesterday, we had oral sex, a told me how hot I was and even gave me his cell #. I did not have not much self confindence but since losing the weight and dressing more in style, had to purchase a whole new warbrobe with was fun, I'm able now to walk up and talk to someone now without being uncomfortable like I was a few months ago. I have manitain my weight loss now for 6 months and everyone now are saying I've lost too much and don't lose anymore, I think their jealous and say screw them and would like to get to 190. To those out their who have a weight problem, 90% the problem is your mind set, YOU have to make up your mind YOU want to do it and it will happen for YOU. If this just helps one person out there to lose weight I feel I have done my good deed for the day! Cris, keep up the good work and lets keep in touch, my email address is gregl3@hotmail.com., who knows maybe our paths will cross one day, would love to meet ya. Greg.

You deserve to pat yourself on the back. Good for you! If you don't treat yourself well you can't expect anyone else to. I love to eat and I'm a really good cook. Good food doesn't have to be fattening. I almost can't stand restaurant food. Too much salt for one thing. The American diet is so un-healthful. You couldn't get me into MacDonalds without putting a gun to my head. I'm repulsed by what people carry into movie theaters. I'm especially saddened by the enormously fat teenagers I see. Now it's starting to happen in Europe. Why American fast food restaurants have caught on there is beyond me. There's a Duncan Donuts right around the corner from the Trevi Fountain in Rome. MacDonalds all over Paris. Horrible! I go to the gym mosty to avoid aches and pains and it really works. A sedentary life is so dangerous. I'm so encouraged when I see people in their 70's and 80's at my gym. Good diet and exercise has to be a way of life. If only people would think of it as a reward and not a punishment. Having said all this, I'm off to the gym. You are an inspiration. Congratulations!

Greg and foxy - great work!

We do have an epidemic in this country - and it's quickly spreading to other industrialized societies across the globe. Quick, convenient, inexpensive food that tastes good satisfies so many needs - except for the most critical; nutrition.

As foxy pointed out - it's especially alarming to see the percentage of overweight children skyrocket today.

Who will be the escorts of tomorrow? :(

Congratulations on making healthy changes in your eating habits and making exercising a regular part of your life. I too have started a major change for the better in both eating better and forcing myself to cook healthy meals for myself, and regularly going to the gym three times a week and then jogging on the alternate days three times a week. I just started to get serious one week ago. I got the book "Body for Life" and plan on following that and take the 12 week challenge to change my body. I want to get my waist size back down to what it was 5 years ago, and lose about 10 pounds of fat and then gain as much muscle as possible. Your post was an inspiration and I wish you continued success and hope I can attain the goals I have set out to achieve.

Also, good for you for using a self tanning cream. I used to lay out in the sun and go to the tanning beds, but don't want to risk getting skin cancer, so now I use the self tanners too. A good website for learning more about good products and how to apply them is http://www.sunless.com

>Btw, isn't it cool to be a sex object? It fuckin' rocks. :p

Yeah - that's still a bit of a head trip for me. I met up with a friend this evening at a local gay bar (someplace I'd never been in before) and across the bar this really hot guy with a goatee (who was with another guy) kept staring at me, and I just met his gaze straight back. He winked and stuck his tongue out a little at me! I almost laughed!

This past 7 days I've been having a lot of "firsts"

Maybe some of it is attitude as well - I don't know. Inside, I don't really "feel" like a different person.

Great inspiration from all of you guys as well. Helps keep the fire burning. When I was showering with my date last night, he rubbed my abs and said "I love those" - I thought, "yeah - I finally have something there to look at!" The positive feedback really helps with the motivation.

guyinsf - regarding escorting for myself: nah - I don't have the balls (figuratively speaking) to do that. I'll leave that to the experts!

THANKS HOO!

I'm going off to workout this morning with your message in my head. What a great way to start off!

Smoking - I know, I know. This week I'm going to NOT have that one, and we'll see how it goes. I think if I set up a date for Friday night, it will take my mind off the cigarette.

Thanks again! :D
