Urban's Future?

I'm pleased, too, that Texas Hottie Tim Urban improved his vocal performance significantly this week. He probably isn't the "best," however the exposure he's receiving is sure to net him a contract of some type: swimsuit/underwear model, boy-band singer, acting role on "Gossip Girls" or "Glee," etc.

In two years, GAY PORN? YEAH!

If you're a very talented singer of color, you might just get to stick around for awhile. However, if you're mediocre and up against caucasian mediocre singers, you're often among the first to go. Last night all four departing singers were people of color, and most not any worse than their white counterparts. This has a lot to say about the voting public.

there have been 2 black American idols b4 but if your Asian or Mexican you don't have a chance on that show

I think there have been more than two. Fantasia, Reuben Studdard and Jordin Sparks come to mind. But still, the voting public seems to accept mediocrity more if it comes from someone who looks like them.

I do not think race is a major factor in the voting. I think the comment of mediocre singing talent is being very generous. The word boring seems more in line. What I think is of relevance is poise, talent, being unique and not coming off as argumentative. Actually Hispanic background has been represented. The gentleman from Puerto Rico was the first to go at the top 13, with an absolutely dreadful song choice and performance. Isn't David Archuletta's mother from Central America, and is not Allison Ihahetta's mom also from Central America. America's voting is different at this point with 20 people as opposed to who is voting at top 12 and then top 6. Season 3, the last 4 were all girls including the awful singer from Hawaii. Last season last 3 were guys, these things will float season to season.

At this point in the season I have yet to hear a performance that is worth a recording contract. But what did come through were those singers (for most the term artist is a push) who were unique and and had poise. Those that are argumentative got the boot Jermaine.

Michelle actually received a lot of praise the prior night why I have no cluse she was out of tune through most of the song. Hailey made the show because she auditioned a country song. Well black country artists are few and far between. Then to sing a Miley Cyrus song, PLEASE, gag me with a spoon. How tuneless Lacy made it through who knows but I betting she is on the next train back to Texas next week.

Big Mike just went out had fun and sang decent that is all you have to do at this point and have some personality.

I actually wish the judges would be much, much harder on the younger contestants during the Hollywood week to see if they have it. The young ones have been anything but special so far. Not one of them is even close to Allison or Jordan. They should all go through the porcess once and them come back the next year. Although not foolproof, certainly did not help Lacey did it, ugh!

I think the overall talent for this season is way below average. Not one contestant strikes me as being "star" material.

I would point out that it took until last year to have the "cute" boy win and it is likely Kris Allen only won due to some shenanigans in the voting from Arkansas. You have had 2 Southern girls Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson; 2 Ladies of Color Fantasia and Jordon Sparks. One Man of Color Reuben Studdard. One Mystery Winner Southern Boy Taylor Hicks. One Older Man David Cook (well older for Idol)

Ellen asked the right question. If he can act he will definitely work. However, if he acts like he sings he will be relegated to the WB.

I have to agree. I don't see one person on the show this year that has any "star quality."

That being said. Tim Urban was SMOKING HOT looking on this week's show. That t-shirt and the white pants? Oh mama. When they showed him from behind with that perfect round ass I wanted to throw him down and fuck him right there. He was GORGEOUS! He finally got the message. Get in those tight t-shirts, boy!

Shenanigans in the voting? Oh, c'mon. Not everything is the result of some conspiracy. From what I hear, the vote totals weren't even close -- across the country -- which is why, for the first time in its history, AI chose not to reveal the vote percentages. They didn't want to embarass Mr. Lambert.

It was reported that phones were given out in Arkansas that registered more than a hundred votes per call. As I recall, the difference in votes was 12 million. There were something on the order of 18 million votes from Arkansas alone. Perhaps that would not be shenanigans if Arkansas wasnt Kris Allen's home state. In any case, last laugh will be Lamberts and the point remains, took a long time for a cute boy, typical teen heartthrob type, to win.

"It was reported." Enough said about that I guess. C'mon. Give me a break. Whoever deserved to win is beside the point.

IMHO

"It was reported..." by purplecow seems far stronger than your overwhelming powerful "From what I hear..." statement before it.

Not really because I heard it from the producer who has confided in many people that that was why they didn't report the vote totals. "It was reported" doesn't tell us anything.

Adam Lambert's doing just fine. He's selling out on his tour dates and and his CD has sold more than Chris Allen's. I believe Jenifer Hudson came in 4th and it certainly hasn't hurt her Academy Award winning career. Who else but tweens will go to the effort to do all of that texting?

Well just to continue this but also to make a bigger point, the producer might not want the totals reported because it was so outrageously out of proportion that the whole voting process might have been brought open to question. Not that Fox would ever try to cover up anything that would be unflattering or that a TV producer might want his product seen in the best possible light. I used "it was reported" in that I dont recall the details as who was doing the reporting. At the time but I was I sufficently impressed with the source that I recall the information now. This isn't Watergate and the original point of the post was cute white boys arent usually the winner on AI and that it may have taken some shenanigans to get it to be the case. As far as we know, no gay winner on AI yet but I have my doubts about Taylor Hicks lol.

Sorry to see Tim go!

He probably stayed longer than his singing talent would justify but I'll miss looking at him just the same. The pics posted here by Expat show a very hot guy with a great body, who seemed to know just how sexy he is. He obviouly worked at looking good. Love that little "happy trail".

I just wished that he'd played that up a bit more on the show with fewer jackets and tighter shirts. He could have gone for a sexier image rather than the squeaky clean one. Maybe he'll get a new gig playing up to teenage girls or maybe dirty old gay men like me. For these two groups the singing is less important than the other talents he seems to have.

Thanks Duchess

I remember seeing a similar article...this is about as bad as the "64 Million Dollar Question" Most of the posters here are probably not old enough to remember that show and the aftermath of the rigging of the show became a popular movie that is sometimes replayed on late night cable. It is really all about GREED and power... I never watch AI for that very reason. I am quite sure the entire system is rigged from the judges through the voting.

Are you guys suggesting that Adam Lambert received more legitimate votes and should have won AI if not for the "greedy and powerful"? Wow, next thing you know people will be suggesting that more citizens actually voted for Al Gore than "W" in the 2000 U.S. Presidential election!;)
