"An American teenager has been sentenced to 15 years in jail after posing as a girl on Facebook to blackmail seven classmates into sex.

Anthony Stancl, 19, of Wisconsin, was accused of tricking more than 30 male classmates into sending him naked photos of themselves.

He then used the photos as blackmail, threatening to post them online unless the students had sex with him.

He forced at least seven of them into some sort of sexual activity with him in encounters that he documented with a mobile phone."

Now the only crime I see him guilty of is that of Blackmail, Extortion, and False Impersonation, Sexual Assault".

 

Now personally I think the law needs to be re-written to clarify , because "Repeated Sexual assault of a child" sounds like he perpetrated these alleged crimes on an individuals who were 12 years of age or younger. If it is a classmate that is withing the same age group 1-2 years difference at the least.... it should just be listed as "Repeated Sexual Assault". Although one has to wonder perhaps some of these hook ups were from curious guys who had second thoughts?

The article says that he contacted at least 31 guys who sent nude photos of themselves, but actually had sex with 7. The age of consent has to be set somewhere with the offence being a person above that age having sex with someone below that age, rather than how many years there are between them. The age of consent varies between 16-18 by state, with 18 being the age of consent in Wisconsin.

This perpetrator was convicted for sex with 14-17 year olds. The basic element of the Crime is COERSION. Requiring someone to behave in a manner they would not choose of their own freewill by employing fear tactics. He could be convicted of racketeering!

I think it is likely the coersion related to the gay guy now threatening to post the pictures saying he had sex with them implicating the straight guys as gay. So rather than have people think they had gay sex, the victims had gay sex so no one would know. Or is that too convoluted?
